Skiing
Skiing is the use of skis to glide on snow. Variations of purpose include basic transport, a recreational activity, or a competitive winter sport. Many types of competitive skiing events are recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the International Ski Federation (FIS). History Skiing has a history of almost five millennia. Although modern skiing has evolved from beginnings in Scandinavia, it may have been practiced more than 100 centuries ago in what is now China, according to an interpretation of ancient paintings. However, this continues to be debated. The word "ski" comes from the Old Norse word "skíð" which means to "split piece of wood or firewood". Anna Olsson (born 1 May 1976 as Anna Dahlberg in Kramfors, Ångermanland) is a Swedish cross-country skier who competed from 1996 to 2010. Competing in three Winter Olympics, she won a gold medal in the team sprint (with Lina Andersson) at Turin in 2006. Lina Andersson
Lina Andersson (born March 18, 1981 in Malmberget) is a Swedish cross-country skier who has competed since 1998. She won a gold medal in the Team sprint (with Anna Dahlberg) at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and also finished 11th in the Individual sprint in those same games. Charlotte Kalla
Marina Charlotte Kalla (born 22 July 1987 in Tärendö) is a Swedish cross-country skier who has been competing at international level since the 2003–04 season. Kalla is a three-time Olympian, winning her first Olympic gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in the 10 km freestyle event in Vancouver. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi Kalla ran the final leg in the 4 × 5 km women's relay race and started third with a 25.7 seconds lag behind the first place but reduced the gap, overtaking her competitors in the final straight, earning Sweden the first gold medal in the women's relay event since 1968. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang Kalla won Olympic gold medal in the skiathlon event. On 6 January 2008, Kalla won the second edition of Tour de Ski in her debut in the event. Marcus Hellner
Carl Marcus Joakim Hellner (born 25 November 1985) is a Swedish former cross-country skier who competed between 2003 and 2018. He retired at the end of the 2017-18 FIS World Cup season. Athletic career Hellner had a total of seven victories in the junior levels of cross-country skiing up to 30 km from 2003 to 2005. In Gällivare, Sweden, he took his first world cup win on a 15 km event. Hellner won bronze, his first medal, in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 2007 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo. In the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Hellner won his first Olympic gold medal in the 30 km skiathlon, deciding the race in a sprint at the end. At the 4 × 10 km relay, Hellner took gold for Sweden after leading the race from the very start. Kjell Magnus Robin Bryntesson (born 17 October 1985 in Rossön, Ångermanland) is a Swedish cross-country skier who has been competing since 2003. He won two medals at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin with a gold in the team sprint and a bronze in the individual sprint events. Emil Jönsson Haag (born 15 August 1985) is a Swedish retired cross-country skier who competed between 2004 and 2018. Career At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he finished seventh in the individual sprint event. He has twelve World Cup victories, all in sprint events, since 2008.
