Skelliconnection
''Skelliconnection'' is the second album by Canadian musician Chad VanGaalen. It was released on August 22, 2006 on Flemish Eye (Canadian distribution) and Sub Pop (U.S. distribution). In addition to writing and recording the album, VanGaalen performed almost all of the instruments and drew the album artwork. Like VanGaalen's debut album, ''Infiniheart'' (2004), ''Skelliconnection'' comprises material from hundreds of homemade recordings. On July 10, 2007, ''Skelliconnection'' was announced as a finalist for the Polaris Music Prize, alongside such other acts as The Dears, Julie Doiron, and Miracle Fortress. The winner, announced on September 24, 2007, was ''Close to Paradise'' by Patrick Watson. Many fans believe that the lyrics in the track "Red Hot Drops" are pertaining to intravenous drug use. Chad VanGaalen (born 1977) is a Canadian musician and artist from Calgary, Alberta. Career ''Infiniheart'' Following a few scattered independent releases, done mostly on homemade CDs with hand-drawn art, VanGaalen released '' Infiniheart'' (2004) on Canadian independent label Flemish Eye. ''Infiniheart'', a collection of songs selected from recordings made in his bedroom/makeshift studio, was picked up in 2005 by indie label Sub Pop. In late 2005, the album was re-released with a bonus six-song EP entitled ''Green Beans''. The Polaris Music Prize is a music award annually given to the best full-length Canadian album based on artistic merit, regardless of genre, sales, or record label. ''Infiniheart'' is an album by Canadian artist Chad VanGaalen. It was originally released in 2004 on Flemish Eye and was rereleased in 2005 on Sub Pop. The album was recorded in a makeshift studio in VanGaalen's basement, and uses a diverse array of instruments and equipment, almost all played by VanGaalen and some handmade by the artist. Patrick Watson (born October 8, 1979) is an American-born Canadian singer-songwriter from Montreal, Quebec. It also refers to the eponymous band formed by Watson, whose blend of cabaret pop and classical music influences with indie rock has been compared to Rufus Wainwright, Andrew Bird, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley and Pink Floyd for its experimental musicianship. Miracle Fortress is a Canadians, Canadian indie rock band based in Montreal, Quebec.
