''Skellefteå'' is an album by Sweden, Swedish band the Wannadies, named after the band's home town Skellefteå in northern Sweden. A compilation of the best of their releases for MNW Records/Soap, the album also features the previously unreleased track, "Easier to Sing", and was released in 1998. ''The Wannadies'' is an album by Sweden, Swedish band The Wannadies. It was released in 1997 as their first album for the United States, US market, seven years after their debut in Sweden. It is based on the band's fourth album ''Bagsy Me'', also released in 1997. As well as slightly changing the order, it omits two tracks ("Bumble Bee Boy" and "Combat Honey") replacing them with two further singles from the band's third album ''Be A Girl'' ("Might Be Stars" and "How Does It Feel?" - "You and Me Song" was also originally from ''Be A Girl'' but was also included on ''Bagsy Me''). The Wannadies is an alternative rock band formed in 1988 in Skellefteå, northern Sweden. The band's initial line-up featured Pär Wiksten (vocals, guitar), Christina Bergmark (born 1 March 1969) (vocals), Micke Herrström (keyboards), Stefan Schönfeldt (born 5 June 1965) (guitars) and his younger brother Fredrik Schönfeldt (bass) with Gunnar Karlsson (drums) and Björn Malmquist (violin). History Early days (1988–1993) The Wannadies played their first concert, a festival in support of the Nicaraguan Sandinistas, in October 1988 and only weeks later entered local studio KN to record the three tracks that would become their debut release—the '' Smile EP''. Skellefteå
Skellefteå (, locally ) is a Cities in Sweden, city in Västerbotten County, Sweden, with a population of 36,388. It is the seat of Skellefteå Municipality, which had 77,322 inhabitants in 2024. The city is historically industrial, with mining being a large part of that industry, especially for gold, leading to the city being nicknamed ''Guldstaden'' ("gold town").
