''Skateboarder'' was a skateboarding publication that produced a limited run of hard copy versions that are sold in skateboard shops. The publication was the United States' first skateboarding magazine. in August 2013, its editor was Jaime Owens and its publisher was Jamey Stone. On August 19, 2013, the magazine's owner GrindMedia announced that the publication would cease production on October 15, 2013. History First iteration: 1964–1965 The magazine was first published in Winter 1964 as a quarterly under the name ''The Quarterly Skateboarder''—by Surfer Publications out of Dana Point, California, US—during the first skateboarding boom. Patti McGee
Patricia Ann McGee (August 23, 1945 – October 16, 2024) was an American professional skateboarder. In 1964 she set a world speed record for women's skateboarding and became the first women's champion in the sport. She was the first woman professional skateboarder and the first woman inducted into the IASC Skateboarding Hall of Fame. Early life and career Patricia Ann McGee was born at the Fort Lewis Army post in Washington state, where her father was stationed at the time. She grew up in San Diego. Her first skateboard was built by her brother in wood shop from her own shoe skate as a surprise. Her second skateboard was a Bun Buster.
