Skara Municipality
Skara Municipality (''Skara kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Skara. The area of the municipality consists of 16 original local government entities. The municipal reform of 1952 grouped them into four new entities. In 1971 the ''City of Skara'' was amalgamated with the rural municipalities to form the present unit. Falköping Municipality (''Falköpings kommun'') is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the stad (Sweden), town of Falköping. Skövde Municipality
Skövde Municipality (''Skövde kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Skövde. The present municipality was formed in 1971 when the ''City of Skövde'' was amalgamated with five surrounding municipalities. The number of original entities (as of 1863) is nearly 30. They had in 1952 been reduced to six. Economy The single largest employer in the municipality is Volvo, with Volvo Powertrain and Volvo Cars together employing approximately 5,000 people. Götene Municipality
Götene Municipality (''Götene kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Götene. When the first Swedish local government acts went into force in 1863, 20 rural municipal entities (each corresponding to a parish of the Church of Sweden) were created in the area. The municipal reform of 1952 grouped them into three, new, larger units. These were amalgamated in 1967 to form the present municipality. The two most notable sights in the municipality are the mountain/ridge Kinnekulle (with 306 meters the highest point in the county) and the village Husaby, with an old church and church well, where the first Christian king of Sweden, Olof Skötkonung, is believed to have been baptized. The Diocese of Skara ( sv, Skara stift) is the oldest existing diocese in Sweden, originally a Latin bishopric of the Roman Catholic church, and since Protestant reformation a Lutheran diocese of the Church of Sweden (the former state church of Sweden), with its seat at Skara in Västergötland ( Skara Cathedral). In 2014, it celebrated its 1000-year anniversary as a full diocese. Skaraborg County
Skaraborg County ( sv, Skaraborgs län ) was a Counties of Sweden, county of Sweden from 1634 until 1997. It was disestablished at the end of 1997 when it was merged with the counties of Gothenburg and Bohus County, Gothenburg and Bohus and Älvsborg County, Älvsborg to form Västra Götaland County. The county was named after a fortress () outside the List of cities in Sweden, city of Skara. The seat of residence for the county governor was Mariestad from 1660 onwards and the largest city (during the 20th century) was first Lidköping and later Skövde. Varnhem
Varnhem is a locality situated in Skara Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden with 707 inhabitants in 2010. Varnhem is the location of the oldest known stone church in Sweden outside of Scania, erected in the 1040s at the latest. It is also the location of a Christian cemetery which was in use during the end of the ninth century. The Cistercian Order established Varnhem Abbey around 1150, not far from the old church. A new abbey church was erected to replace the older church; the abbey church is still in use. Varnhem and in particular its abbey has received additional attention in recent years due to it being the main location of ''The Knight Templar'' trilogy written by Jan Guillou, and subsequently filmed.
