Skafish
Skafish is an American, Chicago-based punk band, fronted by Jim Skafish, cousin of Chicago area DJ Bobby Skafish. The band was formed in 1976 and had their first performance that November. In 1977, ''Billboard'' magazine printed a review of the band's performance as the opening act for Sha Na Na at Chicago's Arie Crown Theater. Finding Skafish to be a "peculiar appetizer for the straight, conservative crowd" that Sha Na Na attracted, the reviewer stated that " rge numbers retreated to the lobby halfway through Skafish's set, while others approached the stage, threatening with missiles, gestures and denunciations." Bobby Skafish
Bobby Skafish ( ) is a long-time radio personality in the Chicago area. Early life and education Skafish was born in Indiana circa 1953/1954. He has four older siblings. His father was a milkman and his mother was a part-time employee in school cafeterias. Skafish attended Gavit High School. He then attended Calumet College for a year before transferring to Indiana University Bloomington where, as a senior, he worked on the campus radio station. Career Skafish began working as a disc jockey (DJ) on WWJY ( WFLM at the time) in Crown Point, Indiana, then moved to WXRT in Chicago six months later where he became one of the best known radio personalities in Chicago. In 1983, he moved to WLUP (commonly called "the Loop"). At the Loop, Skafish called himself "Rob S." on the air. ''Urgh! A Music War'' is a 1982 British concert film featuring performances by punk rock, new wave, and post-punk bands and artists. Filmed in August to September 1980 it was directed by Derek Burbidge and produced by Michael White and Lyndall Hobbs. Among the acts featured in the film are Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Magazine, the Go-Go's, Toyah Willcox, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, X, XTC, Devo, the Cramps, Oingo Boingo, Dead Kennedys, Gary Numan, Klaus Nomi, Wall of Voodoo, Pere Ubu, Skafish, Steel Pulse, Surf Punks, 999, UB40, Echo & the Bunnymen and The Police. Jeff Ward (musician)
Jeff Ward (November 18, 1962 – March 19, 1993) was an American musician, serving as a drummer for various Rock music, rock bands including Skafish, Hammeron, Nine Inch Nails, Revolting Cocks, Ministry (band), Ministry, Lard (band), Lard (drums and vocals), and Low Pop Suicide. He provided vocals and drums for 1000 Homo DJs, most notably "Hey Asshole", in which he voices a police officer. He died by suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning in 1993. The Stranglers
The Stranglers are an English rock music, rock band formed in 1974. Survivor was an American Rock music, rock band formed in Chicago in 1978 by Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan. The band achieved commercial success in the 1980s with five top ten singles in the United States. The band is best known for their 1982 hit "Eye of the Tiger", the theme song for the film ''Rocky III'' which spent Hot 100 number-one hits of 1982 (United States), six weeks at number one in the US. The American Breed
The American Breed were an American rock band from Chicago in the 1960s. The band were originally called Gary & The Knight Lites before adopting the name The American Breed in 1967. The band had a number of charting songs in 1967–68, the best-known of which was " Bend Me, Shape Me". The band broke up in 1970, and members went on to form Rufus after the split. History The American Breed originated as a group formed in 1961 by Gary Loizzo in Cicero, Illinois, United States, called Gary & The Knight Lites.
