Skaff Bloc
The Skaff Bloc or Popular Bloc, led by Myriam Skaff, is a political party and an electoral coalition in the Lebanese Parliament that aligned with the Free Patriotic Movement from 2005 to 2009. History It was part of the current Lebanese opposition Change and Reform bloc, headed by Michel Aoun. In 2009 the party lost all its deputies after the victory of the 14 March alliance in the district. After the death of Elias Skaff on 10 October 2015, his wife, Myriam Skaff, took control of the party. During the Lebanese municipal election of 2016 in Zahle, an attempt at forging an electoral coalition with the Free Patriotic Movement and the Lebanese Forces failed, prompting the Popular bloc to run against the Christian parties and Nicolas Fattouche list. Myriam Skaff
Myriam Gebran Tawk (; born 1968) is a Lebanese politician who is a prominent member of the Skaff family in the city of Zahle and the leader of the Popular Bloc, succeeding her late husband Elias Skaff. Early life and education Skaff completed her secondary education at the Athenee de Beyrouth school. She holds a BA in Social Sciences from the American International University in London-Richmond, followed by a secondary diploma in Women's Studies and later worked in the field of marketing in two French companies. Elias Skaff
Elias (Elie) Skaff (11 October 1948 – 10 October 2015), in Arabic الياس سكاف , was a Lebanese politician and leader of the " Popular Bloc". Early years and education Elias Skaff was born in Zahlé, Lebanon on 11 October 1948. He is the son of the leader and ex-minister Joseph Tohme Skaff. His mother is Helena Nilacos who is of the Greek nationality. Elias Skaff received elementary education in Zahle and then in New Zealand. In 1965, he attended the Evangelical School in Zahle and then the International School of Choueifat – Lebanon. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering from the American University of Beirut in 1975. Joseph Elias Tohme Skaf ( ar, جوزيف الياس طعمه سكاف; 1991–1922), was a Lebanese politician who is considered one of the most prominent personalities of the Skaff family in the city of Zahle. He held several ministerial positions from 1955 to 1988 under 5 different presidents which include Camille Chamoun, Fouad Chehab, Suleiman Franjieh, Elias Sarkis and Amine Gemayel. Frank Skaff
Francis Michael Skaff (September 30, 1910 – April 12, 1988) was an American Major League Baseball (MLB) infielder, coach, manager and scout. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1935 and for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1943, and served as acting manager of the Detroit Tigers for the latter half of the season after his two immediate predecessors in the post were stricken with terminal illnesses. A Day to Remember (often abbreviated ADTR, and previously known as End of an Era) is an American rock band from Ocala, Florida, founded in 2003 by guitarist Tom Denney and drummer Bobby Scruggs. They are known for their amalgamation of metalcore and pop punk. The band currently consists of vocalist Jeremy McKinnon, rhythm guitarist Neil Westfall, percussionist/drummer Alex Shelnutt and lead guitarist Kevin Skaff. Signing with Indianola Records for their first album, '' And Their Name Was Treason'' (2005), Scruggs was replaced by Shelnutt in 2006. Later that year the band recorded '' For Those Who Have Heart'' (2007) for Victory Records. They embarked on several tours of the UK and U.S. and played at several festivals before recording and releasing '' Homesick'' (2009).
