Sk. Mujibur Rahman
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is an Indian politician belonging to the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was the MLA of Moyna Assembly constituency in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Early life and family Mujibur Rahman was born on 18 April 1953 to a Bengalis, Bengali family of Muslim Sheikhs of Bengal, Sheikhs in Moyna (community development block), Basanta Chak, Midnapore district, West Bengal. He is the son of Sheikh Rustam Ali. Rahman studied at the Gokulnagar Trilochan Vidyapith and Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya. He holds Master of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees from the University of Calcutta. Career Mujibur Rahman was a member of the Moyna Panchayet Samiti, Purta Sthayi Samtiti and Karmadhakshya. He contested in the 2006 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election where he ran as an Indian National Congress candidate for Moyna Assembly constituency, defeating Trinamool politician Prafulla Kumar Barai. West Bengal Legislative Assembly
The West Bengal Legislative Assembly (ISO 15919, ISO: ''Paścimabaṅga Vidhānasabhā'') is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of West Bengal, located in eastern India. It consists of 294 members directly elected from single-seat constituencies through the first-past-the-post voting, FPTP voting system. The Assembly meets at Vidhan Sabha Bhavan in Kolkata, the capital of the state. The presiding officer of the Assembly is the Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Speaker, currently Biman Banerjee. 2006 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election
Assembly elections were held in the Indian state of West Bengal to elect the members of West Bengal Legislative Assembly . The election took place in five phases between 17 April and 8 May. The votes were counted three days later on May 11, 2006, and, thanks to the Indian voting machines, electronic voting machines, all the results were out by the end of the day. The Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Front (West Bengal), Left Front won the election with an overwhelming majority. The Communist Party of India (CPI) is a political party in India. The CPI considers the December 26, 1925 Cawnpore (Kanpur) conference as its foundation date. Between 1946 and 1951, the CPI led militant struggles such as the peasant revolt in Telangana, organising guerrilla warfare against feudal lords. The CPI was the main opposition party in India during the 1950s to 1960s. In 1964, a split in the CPI led to the formation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which eventually emerged as the larger of the two parties.
