Sjoerd Cornelis Clemens Maria Potters (born 14 February 1974 in Tilburg) is a Dutch politician. As a member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie) he was an House of Representatives (Netherlands), MP between 8 November 2012 and 23 March 2017. Previously, he was an wethouder, alderman of Waalwijk from 2010 to 2012. From April 2017 till oktober 2024, he has been mayor of De Bilt. And he was then Mayor of Helmond. An alderman is a member of a municipal assembly or council in many jurisdictions founded upon English law with similar officials existing in the Netherlands (wethouder) and Belgium (schepen). The term may be titular, denoting a high-ranking member of a borough or county council, a council member chosen by the elected members themselves rather than by popular vote, or a council member elected by voters.
