The New York City borough of Manhattan contains 214 numbered east–west streets ranging from 1st to 228th, the majority of them designated in the Commissioners' Plan of 1811. These streets do not run exactly east–west, because the grid plan is aligned with the Hudson River, rather than with the cardinal directions. Thus, the majority of the Manhattan grid's "west" is approximately 29 degrees north of true west; the angle differs above 155th Street, where the grid initially ended. The grid now covers the length of the island from 14th Street north. All numbered streets carry an East or West prefix – for example, East 10th Street or West 10th Street – which is demarcated at Broadway below 8th Street, and at Fifth Avenue at 8th Street and above. Sixth Street is a historic street and entertainment district in Austin, Texas, located within the city's urban core in downtown Austin. Sixth Street was formerly named Pecan Street under Austin's older naming convention, which had east–west streets named after trees and north–south streets named after Texas rivers (the latter convention remains in place). The nine-block area of East Sixth Street roughly between Lavaca Street to the west and Interstate 35 to the east is recognized as the Sixth Street Historic District and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on December 30, 1975. Developed as one of Austin's trade and commercial districts in the late 1800s, the predominant building style are two- or three-story masonry Victorian commercial architecture. Sixth Street (Wells, Nevada)
State Route 223 (SR 223) is a state highway in Elko County, Nevada, United States. Co-signed with Interstate 80 Business (I-80 Bus.), it serves the town of Wells. Route description State Route 223 begins at the intersection of Humboldt Avenue and Angel Lake Road ( SR 231) in western Wells. From there, the highway follows Humboldt Avenue northward, crossing underneath Interstate 80 (I-80), curving easterly as the road borders residential areas of the town. After about , Humboldt Avenue intersects Sixth Street. SR 223 turns southeasterly to follow Sixth Street for about before reaching its terminus at the intersection with U.S. Route 93. Sixth Street continues east to intersect a westbound off ramp from I-80, which completes the I-80 Bus. Loop.
