Six-Fours-les-Plages
Six-Fours-les-Plages (; oc, Sièis Forns lei Plaias, Sièis Four in provençal), is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. Inhabitants of Six-Fours-les-Plages refer to themselves as "Six-Fournais". It is located in the Métropole Toulon Provence Méditerranée, and is southwest of the main city of Toulon. Features The city offers several points of interest. The fort on the hill that dominates the city neighbours an eleventh-century chapel, St Peter "collégiale". There are also nice beaches from the very popular "brutal beach", famous for windsurfing to the secret cove in the Sicié massif. ÃŽle Des Embiez
The Île des Embiez () is a French island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is the largest island in the Embiez archipelago. It is located off the coast of the port of Le Brusc in the commune of Six-Fours-les-Plages, in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in South Eastern France. The island has a permanent population of 10. A frequent daily ferry service runs to the island from Le Brusc. Summer boat trips leave from Sanary. The island has a surface area of , with a coastline of . The island is high at its highest point. The port has moorings for 750 boats, and is the home of ''Le Garlaban'', a three mast sailing boat that belonged to Paul Ricard and is now a seafood restaurant (only open in July and August). Poly Implant Prothèse (PIP) was a French company founded in 1991 that produced silicone gel breast implants. The company was preemptively liquidated in 2010 following the revelation that they had been illegally manufacturing and selling breast implants made from cheaper industrial-grade silicone since 2001 (instead of the mandated medical-grade silicone they had previously used). The hundreds of thousands of unapproved implants sold globally by PIP from 2001 to 2010 were found to have a 500% higher risk of rupturing or leaking than approved models, as well as being implicated in several deaths due to systemic toxicity and several cases of induced breast cancer.
