Sisu SA-110
Sisu SA-110 is a prototype of a light two-axle off-road lorry made by the Finnish heavy vehicle manufacturer Oy Sisu-Auto Ab in 1986. Total six pieces were made. The vehicle was partly armoured. The initiative for the vehicle development came from the Finnish Defence Forces which sent an inquiry for a light off-road lorry to Sisu-Auto in April 1983. At the time the Defence Forces was planning to purchase of 1 000 such vehicles. Sisu-Auto handed over a prototype for testing at the end of year 1986. Technical data Sisu-Auto opted two engine types: Deutz BF 6 L 913 and Valmet 411 DSJ. The latter one is in use in four vehicles. The gearbox is ZF-S5-35/2 which was connected to a reduction gear unit of Sisu's own design. The axles are portal type and they are equipped with disc brakes and CTI system. Sisu SA-150
Sisu SA-150 is a medium-size, two-axle off-road lorry made by the Finnish heavy vehicle manufacturer Oy Sisu-Auto Ab from 1982 until 1991. The four-wheel-drive lorry with load capacity of 6 400 kg was developed for pulling of heavy cannons of the Finnish Defence Forces. Development Based on experience from Sisu A-45 and due to new, heavier cannons, there came a need for stronger vehicles in the Finnish Defence Forces. Due to this, Sisu-Auto started a development project of an entirely new medium size off-road lorry. The engineering work began in 1978 in the main office of Sisu-Auto located then in Fleming Street, Helsinki. The project manager was Seppo Kokkola, the head engineer of the company. The other members were Kari Lindholm, Veli Vallinoja, Uoti Hartikainen and Kalevi Kakko who were the most notable engineers of Sisu-Auto. Portal axles (or portal gear lifts) are an off-road vehicle suspension and drive technology where the axle tube or the half-shaft is off-set from – usually above – the center of the wheel hub and where driving power is transferred to each wheel via a simple gearbox, built onto each hub.
