Sister Disco
"Sister Disco" is the fourth track from the Who's eighth studio album ''Who Are You'' (1978). It was written by Pete Townshend. Background "Sister Disco" features complicated synthesizer tracks that are the result of hours Pete Townshend spent programming an ARP 2500 synthesizer. Pete Townshend has claimed that the song was written as a statement that the Who would never use disco elements in their music. A music video for "Sister Disco" was also produced. The video was the 81st video ever shown on MTV. It was a concert clip taken from the Concert for the People of Kampuchea. Lyrics "Sister Disco" seems to mourn the death of disco, although it could be construed to be a criticism of it. However, the lyrics have been regarded by many, including Roger, as confusing. ''Concerts for the People of Kampuchea'' is a double album credited to Various Artists and released in March 1981. It contains live performances by Wings, the Who, Queen, Elvis Costello, Pretenders, the Clash, the Specials and other artists from the Concerts for the People of Kampuchea, held at London's Hammersmith Odeon in December 1979 to raise money for the victims of war-torn Cambodia. The event was organised by Paul McCartney and Kurt Waldheim. History The album starts with four songs from the Who (culled from a 3-hour set list) and finishes with three songs from Wings and three from the all-star line-up called Rockestra. Kenneth Thomas Jones (born 16 September 1948) is an English drummer best known for his work in the groups Small Faces, Faces and the Who. Jones was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Small Faces/Faces. Keith Moon
Keith John Moon (23 August 1946 – 7 September 1978) was an English musician who was the drummer for the rock band the Who. Regarded as one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock music, he was noted for his unique style of playing and his eccentric, often self-destructive behaviour. Moon grew up in Wembley and took up the drums during the early 1960s. After playing with a local band, the Beachcombers, he joined the Who in 1964 before they recorded their first single. Richie Unterberger (born 1962) is an American author and journalist whose focus is popular music and travel writing. Steve Grantley (born 8 March 1962) is an English rock drummer who plays for Stiff Little Fingers, and formerly the Alarm and RTZ Global.
