Sirindhorn Anthropology Center
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre (SAC) () is an academic institution under the Ministry of Culture in Taling Chan District, Bangkok, Thailand, established in 1992, with the aim of the systematic gathering, processing, and maintenance of anthropological data scattered throughout the country. The centre was initiated by Silpakorn University in 1991, started as a faculty-equivalent unit within the university. It became an autonomous organisation in 2000. The institute is named after Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Princess Royal of Thailand. Taling Chan District
Taling Chan (, ) is one of the Districts of Bangkok, 50 districts (''khet'') of Bangkok, Thailand. Its neighbours, clockwise from the north, are Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province and Bang Phlat district, Bang Phlat, Bangkok Noi district, Bangkok Noi, Bangkok Yai district, Bangkok Yai, Phasi Charoen district, Phasi Charoen, Bang Khae district, Bang Khae, and Thawi Watthana district, Thawi Watthana Districts of Bangkok. Silpakorn University
Silpakorn University (SU.) (; ) is a national university in Thailand. The university was founded in Bangkok in 1943 by Tuscan–born art professor Corrado Feroci, who took the Thai name Silpa Bhirasri when he became a Thai citizen. It began as a fine arts university and now includes many other faculties as well. In 2016, it has 25,210 students. History Silpakorn University was originally established as the School of Fine Arts under Thailand's Fine Arts Department in 1933. The school offered the only painting and sculpture programs and waived tuition fees for government officials and students. Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Princess Royal () (born 2 April 1955) is a member of the Thai royal family. She is the second daughter of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, and the younger sister of King Vajiralongkorn. Early life Birth Sirindhorn was born on 2 April 1955, at Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall, Dusit Palace, the third child of King Bhumibol and Queen Mother Sirikit. As the royal couple has only one son, the Thai constitution was altered in 1974 to allow for female succession.
