Sinuiju Stadium
The Sinuiju Stadium (신의주경기장), also known as October Stadium (10월 경기장), is a multi-purpose stadium in Sinŭiju, North Korea, that is mainly used for events and football matches of the Amrokkang Sports Club. A multi-purpose stadium is a type of stadium designed to be easily used by multiple types of events. While any stadium could potentially host more than one type of sport or event, this concept usually refers to a specific design philosophy that stresses multifunctionality over specificity. It is used most commonly in Canada and the United States, where the two most popular outdoor team sports – Canadian football/American football and baseball – require radically different facilities. Football uses a rectangular field while baseball is played on a diamond and large outfield. Since Canadian football fields are larger than American ones, the design specifications for Canadian facilities is somewhat less demanding. The particular design to accommodate both is usually an oval, although some later designs use an octorad. Sinuiju
Sinŭiju (''Sinŭiju-si'', ; known before 1925 in English as Yeng Byen City) is a city in North Korea which faces Dandong, Liaoning, China across the international border of the Yalu River. It is the capital of North P'yŏngan province. Part of the city is included in the Sinŭiju Special Administrative Region, which was established in 2002 to experiment with introducing a market economy. In recent years, the city, despite lagging behind the development in the capital Pyongyang, has seen a small construction boom and increasing tourism from China. Geography Sinŭiju is bordered by the Amnok River, and by P'ihyŏn and Ryongch'ŏn counties. The city's altitude is 1 metre (4 feet) above sea level. Amrokkang Sports Club
Amnokgang Sports Club is a North Korean multi-sports club. Based in Pyongyang, the club competes in the DPR Korea Premier Football League. History Affiliated with the Ministry of People's Security, it was founded on 19 September 1947. The club is best known for its men's and women's football teams. The men's football team presently plays in the DPR Korea Premier League, and in various domestic cup competitions.
