Sint-Martens-Bodegem
Sint-Martens-Bodegem (locally known as: ''Beugem'') is a historic village that is now part of Dilbeek. It has 2638 inhabitants. Toponymy For a long time it was assumed that the mention 'Bodenghem' in the founding charter of the abbey of Affligem applied to Bodegem, but this is nowadays contested because of a possible confusion with the village of Beugem, close to Moorsel. The fact that the nucleus of the settlement was founded very early on can however be linguistically proven (Bodegem < Bodingahaim). Another evidence is the division of the fields around Bodegem, which follows a mansus system, indicating agricultural exploitation in post-Carolingian times. Dilbeek
Dilbeek () is a municipality in the province of Flemish Brabant, in the Flemish region of Belgium. The municipality comprises the villages of Dilbeek proper, Groot-Bijgaarden, Itterbeek (with Sint-Anna-Pede), Schepdaal (with Sint-Gertrudis-Pede), Sint-Martens-Bodegem, and Sint-Ulriks-Kapelle. Dilbeek is located just outside the Brussels-Capital Region, in the Pajottenland, hence the local name ''Poort van het Pajottenland'' (Gate to the Pajottenland). Even though Dilbeek is located in the Dutch language area of Belgium, there is a French-speaking minority represented by 3 members on the 35-seat local council. It is a mostly residential community with some preserved rural areas and some industrial zones. Huisje Mostinckx ( Dutch: ''house Mostinckx'') is a farm on the village square of Sint-Martens-Bodegem, a subdivision of Dilbeek in Flemish Brabant, Belgium. The date of building is unknown, however mentions on the Ferraris maps of Belgium date it prior to 1777. The house is a Flemish protected monument since 1981. Mansus
A ''mansus'', sometimes anglicised as manse, was a unit of land assessment in medieval France, roughly equivalent of the hide. In the 9th century AD, it began to be used by Charlemagne to determine how many warriors would be provided: one for every three (later four) ''mansi'', with smaller landholders collectively forming groups of three (later four).
