Greenville, Liberia
Greenville is the capital of Sinoe County in southeastern Liberia and lies on a lagoon near the Sinoe River and the Atlantic Ocean. It is located about 150 miles southeast of Monrovia. As of the 2008 national census, the population stood at 16,434. A hoard of bronze Kru currency rings discovered in the Sinoe river at Greenville is now in the British Museum. The town was built in about 1838 by colonists of the Mississippi Colonization Society. Part of what was then the Mississippi-in-Africa colony (now Sinoe County), Greenville was named after James Green, a Jefferson County Judge and one of the first Mississippi Delta planters to send a group of former slaves to Liberia. The town was destroyed in the Liberian Civil War but has since been rebuilt around a port for the local logging industry. Sinoe County
Sinoe is one of Liberia's 15 counties and it has 17 districts. Greenville is the county's capital. As of the 2008 Census, it had a population of 104,932, making it one of the least populous counties in Liberia. Sinoe has the third-largest area of all Liberia's counties; it has the second least-dense population after Gbarpolu County. The County was originally a colony in the name Mississippi-in-Africa, under auspices of a chapter of the American Colonization Society as it was created with slaves from Mississippi to Liberia. There are seventeen districts in the county and it has lower tropical forests which has mid size hills composed of various valleys and water courses. Mihai Viteazu is a commune in Constanța County, Northern Dobruja, Romania. It is situated in the northeastern part of the county, some from the county seat, Constanța. To the east are the shores of the Black Sea and of Lake Sinoe, while to the north is Tulcea County. Histria or Istros ( grc, Ἰστρίη, Thracian river god, Danube), was a Greek colony or ''polis'' (πόλις, city) near the mouths of the Danube (known as Ister in Ancient Greek), on the western coast of the Black Sea. It was the first urban settlement on today's Romanian territory when founded by Milesian settlers in the 7th century BC. It was under Roman rule from the 1st to 3rd centuries AD. Invasions during the 7th century AD rendered it indefensible, and the city was abandoned. In antiquity, it also bore the names Istropolis, Istriopolis, and Histriopolis (Ἰστρόπολις, Ἰστρία πόλις).
