Sinkyo Maru
''Sinkyo Maru'', formerly Romanization of Japanese, romanised as ''Shinkyo Maru'', was a Cargo ship, cargo steamship that was launched in Japan in 1932. The Imperial Japanese Navy requisitioned her in 1940. She was converted into an Auxiliary ship, auxiliary gunboat, but also served as a minelayer and a troopship. A United States Navy submarine sank her in the Philippines in 1944, killing 61 of the people aboard. The Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN; Kyūjitai: Shinjitai: ' 'Navy of the Greater Japanese Empire', or ''Nippon Kaigun'', 'Japanese Navy') was the navy of the Empire of Japan from 1868 to 1945, Potsdam Declaration, when it was dissolved following surrender of Japan, Japan's surrender in World War II.
