Singapore International Energy Week
Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), formerly called the ''International Energy Week,'' is an annual week-long energy conference comprising several exhibitions, workshops, and networking sessions focused on fundamental issues within the energy industry. Held since 2008, it is organized by the Energy Market Authority. Events 2008: "Powering Cities of the Future" The inaugural ''International Energy Week'' took place from 3–7 November 2008 at the Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore, and was attended by 2500 people. Energy Market Authority
The Energy Market Authority (EMA) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Government of Singapore. History EMA was set up on 1 April 2001 to take over the regulatory functions of the Public Utilities Board, and the operations of the power grid by SP PowerGrid. It aims to ensure a reliable and secure energy supply, promote effective competition in the energy market and develop a dynamic energy sector in Singapore. Joachim Luther
Joachim Luther (born 31 March 1941 in Hannover, Germany) received his PhD in experimental physics at the Leibniz University Hannover in 1970. Academic career In 1974, Luther became professor of physics at the newly founded University of Oldenburg. In the beginning of the 1980s, his scientific interest shifted towards renewable energy sources, in particular solar power. In 1987, he became dean of the physics faculty at this university. In 1993, he accepted a call to become professor of solid-state physics at the University of Freiburg in Southern Germany and head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in this city at the same time.
