Sindika Dokolo Foundation
The Sindika Dokolo Foundation is a cultural foundation headquartered in Luanda, Angola. It is supported by businessman Sindika Dokolo, the organization's president, and managed by its vice president, Fernando Alvim. Simon Njami the organization's consultant. The foundation is engaged in the preservation, promotion and development of Sindika Dokolo's art collection and the Triennial of Luanda. It was the sponsor of the exhibition Check List Luanda Pop, a side project of Venice Biennale in 2007. Collection The collection stems from the purchase of the Hans Bogatzke's collection. Fernando Alvim is responsible for the collection and the purchase of new art works, mainly those of young artists, and videos and installations. Jimoh Buraimoh
Chief Jimoh Buraimoh (born 1943, as Jimoh Adetunji Buraimoh) is a Nigerian painter and artist. Chief Buraimoh is one of the most influential artists to emerge from the 1960s workshops conducted by Ulli Beier and Georgina Beier in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. Since then, he has become one of the best known artists from Osogbo. Early life and education Jimoh Buraimoh was born in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria, in 1943 into a Muslim branch of the royal family of the town. George Lilanga
George Lilanga (1934 – 27 June 2005) was a Tanzanian painter and sculptor, active from the late 1970s and until the early 21st century. He belonged to the Makonde people and lived most of his life in Dar es Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania. Alongside other African contemporary artists, his work was exhibited in international art shows, including ''Africa Remix'' 2004 or ''African Art Now'' in 2005. Goddy Leye (24 November 1965 in Mbouda, Cameroon – 19 February 2011 in Bonendale, Cameroon) was a Cameroonian artist and intellectual. His work is focused on videos, installations, conceptual art and theoretical contributions. Abdoulaye Konaté
Abdoulaye Konaté (1 February 1953) is a Malian artist. He was born in Diré and lives and works in Bamako. Konaté studied painting at the Institut National des Arts de Bamako and then at the Instituto Superior de Arte, Havana, Cuba. Early life Konaté was born February 1st, 1953 in the northern town of Diré in Mali. He studied and graduated at the Institut National des Arts de Bamako between the times of 1972 to 1976 with a degree in painting. He then moved to Havana, Cuba from 1978 - 1985 to further his art education at the Superior de Arte, Havana, Cuba (Higher Institute of Plastic Arts). William Kentridge
William Kentridge (born 28 April 1955) is a South African artist best known for his prints, drawings, and animated films. He is especially noted for a sequence of hand-drawn animated films he produced during the 1990s, constructed by filming a drawing, making erasures and changes, and filming it again. He continues this process meticulously, giving each change to the drawing a quarter of a second's to two seconds' screen time. A single drawing will be altered and filmed this way until the end of a scene. These palimpsest-like drawings are later displayed along with the films as finished pieces of art. Amal Kenawy
Amal Kenawy (1974–19 August 2012) was an Egyptian contemporary visual artist, best known for her videos, performance and feminist work. Active since 1998, her successful career helped her gain international recognition. Biography Amal Kenawy was born in 1974 in Cairo, Egypt. She showed an interest in film, art and fashion design from an early age. In her childhood, Amal used to make her own clothes from any fabric she could find. Seydou Keïta (; anglicised to Keita; born 16 January 1980) is a Malian former professional footballer. A versatile midfielder, he operated as both a central or defensive midfielder. Jacobus Hermanus Pieters Geers (born May 1968), known as Kendell Geers, is a South African conceptual artist. Biography Kendell Geers was born in Leondale, a working-class suburb on the East Rand outside Johannesburg, South Africa, into an Afrikaans family during the time of apartheid.
