The Sindi (; Adyghe language, Adyghe: Щынджыхэр; Ubykh language, Ubykh: Шинджишвё; ) were an ancient Scythians, Scythian people who primarily lived in western North Caucasus, Ciscaucasia. A portion of the Sindi also lived in Central Europe. Their name is variously written, and Pomponius Mela calls them Sindones, Lucian, Sindianoi. History Ciscaucasia The Sindi were a tribe of the Scythians who established themselves on the Taman peninsula, where they formed a ruling class over the indigenous North Caucasian languages, North Caucasian Maeotians. Archaeologically, the Sindi belonged to the Scythian culture, and they progressively became Hellenised due to contact with the Bosporan Kingdom. Sindi, Estonia
Sindi () is a town in Tori Parish, in Pärnu County, Estonia, with a population of 3906 in 2017. It is located 14 kilometers from the county capital Pärnu, on the left coast of the Pärnu (river), Pärnu river. History The area of what is now Sindi was the site of the Mesolithic settlement of Pulli settlement, Pulli, dating from around 8500 BCE – the oldest known settlement in Estonia. It was discovered by geologists in 1965. The settlement probably existed for a short period, as the area was later covered by water. As a swampy region, the area remained unpopulated until the 16th century. The town's name is derived from Clauss Zindt, a mayor of Pärnu in 1565, who founded a manor (Zintenhof) where the town is now. The settlement was formed in 1833 around a textile factory owned by the manor. It officially became a borough in 1921 and a town in 1938. Kamil Sindi (January 3, 1932 – June 26, 2017) (Arabic: كامل عبد رب الرسول سندي) was the Director General of Saudi Arabian Airlines in 1967 and the Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation in 1979. Biography Kamil Sindi joined the civil aviation department, at Jeddah airport when he was only 17. He worked there until he became the assistant of General Ibrahim Al-Tasan, who was in charge of the Air Force, civil aviation and the airlines at that time. He later was chosen to be the Director General of Saudi Arabian Airlines in 1967. During his days at the airline, he took it from a small company with a few DC-3s to an airline with a large fleet that included Boeing and Lockheed jets; and from an airline that had a few local destinations to an airline with large network of destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia. Karoj Sindi (born 21 August 1989) is an Iraqi footballer who most recently played as a winger for FSV Duisburg. At international level, he played for the Iraq U19 and Iraq U20. Club career Sindi was born in Zakho, Iraq. He moved to Germany when he was two years old and grew up in Duisburg. Sindiswa Dlathu (born January 9, 1974) is a South African actress and musician. She is well known for portraying Thandaza Mokoena on '' Muvhango'', a role she played from the show's inception in 1997 until her departure in 2017. Sindi Watts (also Parker) is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Neighbours'', played by Marisa Warrington. She made her first appearance during the episode broadcast on 19 July 2002. Sindi was initially a recurring character, before she was promoted to the regular cast.
