Sinceros
The Sinceros were a new wave and power pop band from London, England, who recorded two albums for Epic Records, ''The Sound of Sunbathing'' (1979) and '' Pet Rock'' (1981). Both albums were released worldwide and achieved moderate commercial success. Career Mark Kjeldsen, Bobby Irwin and Ron François first played together in a London R&B band called The Strutters. The Sinceros were primarily a vehicle for Kjeldsen's composing talents. He sang lead vocals on most of the band's material although François contributed more songs on their later albums. Prior to signing their Epic Records recording contract, the rhythm section, Irwin and François, participated in the recording of Stiff Records' recording artist Lene Lovich's '' Stateless'' album. Don Snow
Don Snow (born 13 January 1957 in London) is a British vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, who plays the Hammond organ, piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums and saxophone. He is primarily known for his work with the new wave bands Squeeze, the Sinceros and the Catch, as well as Procol Harum. He has also frequently toured with Van Morrison and has played the Hammond organ and piano on three of his albums. Career He started his career in 1978 as an original member of the new wave/power pop outfit the Sinceros, who were signed to Epic Records and released a string of successful albums. Around this time, he also played with Lene Lovich and Bill Nelson, before he joined Squeeze in 1982, replacing Paul Carrack. At this time, he recorded with drummer Chris Whitten as the Catch, releasing the single "25 Years" which reached number 3 on the German charts, sold half a million copies and stayed on the charts for 40 weeks. ''Pet Rock'' is the second and final album from English new wave/power pop band The Sinceros. The album was released worldwide and achieved moderate commercial success. The album has been released on CD by Wounded Bird. Originally intended to be released under the title '' 2nd Debut'' in 1980, the album reached the test pressing stage but was recalled by Epic Records and reworked into ''Pet Rock'' under the guidance of producer Gus Dudgeon. The album, with initial copies pressed on orange vinyl, was released worldwide and achieved moderate commercial success. This is the only album so far released on CD (via Cherry Red Records), the follow-up being ''Pet Rock''. The ''Sunbathing'' CD was released on 18 May 2009 with the catalogue number CDM RED 396. Mark Kjeldsen
Mark Kjeldsen (1953 in Kent, England – 1992) was a founder member of The Sinceros (1978–1981), who wrote most of the songs on their two albums, including their minor hit single " Take Me To Your Leader." He had been a member of the London R&B band, The Strutters. After the demise of The Sinceros, Kjeldsen (pronounced Kelsen) performed with the Danny Adler Band (ex-Roogalator Roogalator was a Pub rock (United Kingdom), pub rock band formed in London in 1972, by the United States, US-born guitarist Danny Adler. Ron François
Ron François (born April 1958) is a British musician, who first came to notice as the lead singer and bass player of the English R&B band The Strutters, which was involved in the London pub rock scene of the mid-1970s. In 1978, he recorded the debut album '' Stateless'' with the Lene Lovich band, from which came the UK hit single "Lucky Number". He then toured with the Lene Lovich band on the Stiff Records "Be Stiff Route 78 Tour" of the UK and New York. From 1978 to 1981, François worked with ex-Strutters Mark Kjeldsen and Bobbi (Irwin) Trehern, on a project they named the Sinceros. They went on to make two albums for Epic Records, '' The Sound of Sunbathing'' and '' Pet Rock'', and achieved moderate success before they disbanded in 1981. Bobby Irwin
Bobby Irwin (23 March 1953 – 8 May 2015) was an English drummer, record producer and songwriter. He is known for working in close collaboration with Nick Lowe as co-songwriter and drummer and as a member of Lowe's band the Cowboy Outfit, as well as being the drummer for Van Morrison. Irwin was also a member of the bands Roogalator, the Sinceros and the Balham Alligators. As well as working alongside Nick Lowe and Van Morrison, Irwin also played drums/produced for many other bands and artists including Bryan Ferry, John Hiatt, Lene Lovich, Paul Carrack, Carlene Carter, Billy Bremner, Geraint Watkins, Jim Lauderdale, Eleni Mandell, Norman Bergen, Tres Chicas and My Darling Clementine. Irwin was also known as Robert Trehern (or Treherne), being credited on certain releases under that name. Robert was his given name, and Trehern was his mother's maiden name. Paul Riley (born 3 October 1951, Islington, London) is an English bassist, singer and record producer. He was a member of Chilli Willi and the Red Hot Peppers and Roogalator in the 1970s. Wessex Sound Studios was a recording studio located at 106a Highbury New Park, London, England. Many renowned popular music artists recorded there, including Sex Pistols, King Crimson, the Clash, Theatre of Hate, XTC, the Sinceros, Queen, Talk Talk, the Rolling Stones, Pete Townshend, Team Dokus and The Damned. The property was sold to a residential development company in 2003. History The building that would become Wessex Studios was built in 1881 as a church hall of St. Augustine's Church. Like other buildings of the Victorian era, it featured Gothic design. Roogalator
Roogalator was a pub rock band formed in London in 1972, by the US-born guitarist Danny Adler. Earlier that year, Adler recorded demos with 10cc's Graham Gouldman at Strawberry Studios. Prior to Roogalator, Adler had also played with Smooth Loser, a band formed with Jeff Pasternak, the brother of BBC disc-jockey Emperor Rosko. Bass guitarist Tony Lester, guitarist Chris Gibbons and drummer Malcolm Mortimer (G.T. Moore and the Reggae Guitars), were members for a time. Gus Dudgeon
Angus Boyd "Gus" Dudgeon (30 September 1942 – 21 July 2002) was an English record producer, who oversaw many of Elton John's most acclaimed recordings, including his commercial breakthrough, " Your Song". Their collaboration led to seven US No. 1 albums, and established John as one of the most successful singles artists of the 1970s. Bruce Woolley
Bruce Martin Woolley (born 11 November 1953) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He wrote songs with artists such as The Buggles and Grace Jones, including "Video Killed the Radio Star" and " Slave to the Rhythm", and co-founded The Radio Science Orchestra. Early life Woolley was born in Loughborough, Leicestershire, England on 11 November 1953 and educated at Loughborough Grammar School, where he learned electric guitar. He lived in Shepshed, playing the UK pub and club circuit extensively for some years, before landing his first professional engagement in 1974, with Ivor Kenney's Dance Band at Leicester Palais.
