Sina Candrian
Sina Candrian (born 21 November 1988 in Flims) is a Swiss snowboarder competing in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Career Candrian's career in competitive snowboarding began in 2005, when she took 3rd place in the FIS Junior World Championships in Zermatt. The following year, she placed first in Big Air at the FIS Junior World Snowboard Championships in Korea. Her first TTR event was the Burton European Open, also in 2006, at Laax. She placed 4th in the 6Star Roxy Chicken Jam Slopestyle and won the Halfpipe at the 6Star O'Neill Evolution. At the end of the 2007–08 season, she was placed 6th in the world in the TTR. In 2008–09, she placed 2nd in Slopestyle at the 6Star Burton European Open and ended the season ranked 7th. In 2009–10, she placed 5th in the Roxy Chicken Jam and 2nd in the 6Star Burton European Open, and also won the first FIS Slopestyle Contest in Calgary. Flims
Flims ( rm, Flem) is a municipality in the Imboden Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The town of Flims is dominated by the Flimserstein which one can see from almost anywhere in the area. Flims consists of the village of Flims (called Flims Dorf) and the hamlets of Fidaz and Scheia as well as Flims-Waldhaus, the initial birthplace of tourism in Flims, where most of the hotels were built before and after around 1900. Halfpipe
A half-pipe is a structure used in gravity extreme sports such as snowboarding, skateboarding, skiing, freestyle BMX, skating, and scooter riding. Overview The structure resembles a cross-section of a swimming pool, essentially two concave ramps (or quarter-pipes), topped by copings and decks, facing each other across a flat transition, also known as a ''tranny''. Originally half-pipes were half sections of a large diameter pipe. Since the 1980s, half-pipes contain an extended ''flat bottom'' between the quarter-pipes. The original style half-pipes are no longer built. Flat ground provides time to regain balance after landing and more time to prepare for the next trick. Chicken Jam
The Roxy Chicken Jam is an all-female snowboarding competition that was started during the 2004–2005 season created by Roxy Clothing. Events The Chicken Jam is an invitational and open class event with halfpipe and slopestyle events. Chickens go in pies go out. Approximately 26 pro riders are invited in each category, with additional competitors coming from qualifying events such as the Roxy Snow Classic. There are two Chicken Jam events each season: the European event in Kaprun takes place in December, and the US event at Park City Mountain Resort in late March. The US event has one of the largest prize purses in women's snowboarding, which in 2008 will total over $150,000.
