Sin Kek Tong
Sin Kek Tong ( zh, s=沈克栋, p=Shěn Kèdòng; died 27 February 2017) was a Singaporean politician. A former member of Singapore People's Party (SPP), Sin served as the Singapore People's Party chairman between 1996 and 2012 and Secretary-General of the Singapore People's Party between 1994 and 1996. Originally a member of the opposition Singapore Democratic Party (SDP), Sin left the SDP in 1994 with a breakaway faction of SDP members who supported Chiam See Tong in an internal conflict against Chee Soon Juan and other SDP leaders. Sin and Chiam's supporters then started the Singapore People's Party (SPP), with Sin standing in as secretary-general until Chiam officially joined the SPP in 1996. The Singapore People's Party (abbreviation: SPP) is a political party in Singapore. SPP was founded in 1994 by Sin Kek Tong who left the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) with various SDP members after internal conflicts in SDP. The leadership was held by Sin until Chiam See Tong left SDP in December 1996 and Chiam assumed leadership. Ling How Doong
Ling How Doong (; 1934 – 30 April 2021) was a Singaporean politician and lawyer. A former member of the opposition Singapore Democratic Party (SDP), he served as the Parliament of Singapore, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bukit Gombak Single Member Constituency, Bukit Gombak SMC between 1991 and 1996 and Leader of the Opposition (Singapore), Leader of the Opposition between 1993 and 1996. Amy Khor Lean Suan ( zh, s=许连碹, p=Xǔ Liánxuàn; born 23 February 1958) is a Malaysian-born Singaporean former politician who has served as Senior Minister of State for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment from 2020 to 2025 and was appointed as Vice-Chairperson of Chua Chu Kang Town Council (CCKTC) from 2015 to 2025. The Hong Kah North Single Member Constituency was a single member constituency (SMC) in the western part of Singapore. It was managed by Chua Chu Kang Town Council. History The constituency was carved out of Hong Kah Group Representation Constituency (GRC) as a SMC during the 2011 elections. Hong Kah GRC was abolished at the same time in favour of Chua Chu Kang GRC. Matthias Yao
Matthias Yao Chih ( zh, s=姚智, p=Yáo Zhì, born 12 January 1956) is a Singaporean former politician. A former member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he was a Member of Parliament (MP) representing Marine Parade GRC between 1991 and 1997, and MacPherson SMC between 1997 and 2011. During his political career, he had served as a Senior Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, the Mayor of the South East District and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament. The MacPherson Single Member Constituency was a single member constituency (SMC) located in the central area of Singapore. At abolition, it was managed by Marine Parade Town Council. History MacPherson Constituency was created for the 1968 general election. In 1988, the constituency was renamed MacPherson Single Member Constituency with the creation of group representation constituencies (GRCs). MacPherson SMC would exist until 1991, when it was merged to Marine Parade GRC. General elections were held in Singapore on 6 May 2006. President S.R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 20 April 2006 on the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong three weeks before the election. Jalan Besar Group Representation Constituency is a four-member Group Representation Constituency composed of several city suburbs along with the Central Area of Singapore. The Jalan Besar GRC is the electoral division representing the largest area of the downtown city centre of Singapore, followed by Tanjong Pagar GRC. General elections were held in Singapore on 3 November 2001. President S.R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 18 October 2001 on the advice of Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong. The ruling People's Action Party (PAP) won 82 of the 84 elected seats in Parliament in a landslide victory.
