Simón Bolívar (Tadolini)
''Simon Bolivar'', also known as ''General Bolivar'', is a bronze equestrian statue of Simón Bolívar by Adamo Tadolini. There are three casts. The original is located in the Plaza Bolivar (Lima), Plaza Bolívar in Lima, the first copy is in the Plaza Bolívar (Caracas), Plaza Bolívar in Caracas and the second copy is in United Nations Plaza (San Francisco), United Nations Plaza in San Francisco, California. The statue in Lima, which was made in Italy in the 1850s, is the oldest of the three. It was cast in Munich and the replica in Caracas was cast by the same foundry after the sculptor's death. The copy in San Francisco was engineered by Miriam Gandica Mora, cast by Victor Hugo Barrenchea-Villegas and dedicated in December 1984. Antonio Guzmán Blanco
Antonio Leocadio Guzmán Blanco (28 February 1829 – 28 July 1899) was a Venezuelan military leader, statesman, diplomat and politician. He was the president of Venezuela for , from 1870 until 1877, from 1879 until 1884, and from 1886 until 1887 and General during the Venezuelan Federal War. He was a member of the movement known as ''Liberalismo Amarillo''. Palomo (horse)
Palomo was Simón Bolívar's horse. It accompanied him on most of his campaigns of national liberation. The horse was white, tall, with a tail that almost reached the ground. It was a gift from an elderly peasant woman from Santa Rosa de Viterbo, Boyacá Department, shortly before the Battle of Boyacá in 1819. According to local lore Bolívar visited Santa Rosa in early 1814 on his way to Tunja on his way to report to the Congress of the United Provinces of New Granada on his setbacks in Venezuela. As the Liberator approached the town on a tired beast of burden, which refused to move any further. There he asked for a guide to take the animal and to lead him into town. During the walk Bolívar and the guide had a conversation in which the guide told Bolívar about his wife Casilda's dreams, especially one in which she saw herself giving a recently born colt to a famous general as a gift. Save Outdoor Sculpture! (SOS!) was a community-based effort to identify, document, and conserve outdoor sculpture in the United States. The program was initiated in 1989 and ended in 1999. History Save Outdoor Sculpture! was initiated by Heritage Preservation: The National Institute of Conservation in 1989. As of 1998, volunteers had cataloged and assessed the condition of over 30,000 outdoor statues and monuments. The Smithsonian Museum of American Art became an active partner in the SOS! project, making SOS! material available online as part of the Inventory of American Sculpture at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. "Some of the most-requested materials" are available via the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation.
