On January 29, 1911, Berthold and José María Leyva took the town of Mexicali with a group of 30 guerrillas, marking the beginning of the Magonista rebellion of 1911. Nacozari De García
Nacozari de García is a small mining town surrounded by the Nacozari de García Municipality in the northeast of the Mexican state of Sonora. Geography The municipal seat had a population of 11,193 in 2000. It is located at an elevation of 1,040 meters. The municipal area is 3,069.52 km² with a population of 14,363 registered in 2000. The land is mountainous and is part of the spurs of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains. There is a reservoir La Angostura, which dams up the Río Bavispe. José María Leyva
José María Leyva (2 April 1877 – 1956) was a militant guerrilla in the (PLM, Mexican Liberal Party), who was a general in the in Baja California. Biography Leyva was born in Tetaroba El Fuerte, Sinaloa, on 2 April 1877. He joined the Mexican Liberal Party in 1904. On 29 January 1911, Leyva, Simón Berthold and a group of 30 guerrillas took the town of Mexicali, an event that marked the beginning of the liberation campaign of PLM in Baja California. After the invaded Ciudad Juarez, Leyva decided to join the party, naming Francisco I. Madero commander of forces in Baja California and then political head of Cuajimalpa in the Federal District. Anarchism in Mexico, the anarchist movement in Mexico, extends from Plotino Rhodakanaty's organization of peasant workers in the 1890s, to Ricardo Flores Magón's activism prior to the Mexican Revolution, to the punk subcultures of the 1990s. Origins and early movement The Mexican anarchist movement originated in the mid-19th century, a product of both Mexico's unique historical development and European influences.
