Sims (rapper)
Andrew Sims (born October 19), better known mononymously as Sims, is an American rapper from Minneapolis. He has been a member of Doomtree and Shredders (music group), Shredders. Early life Sims was born Andrew Sims on October 19, 1982, in Minnesota. He grew up in Hopkins, Minnesota, Hopkins, a suburb of Minneapolis. His parents were former musicians. He first began creating music at an early age when his father bought him a Casio SK-1 keyboard. At a young age, he began writing lyrics, not necessarily rap. By the time he was 14, Sims was freestyle rapping and was also in various non hip hop bands as well. He attended Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota, where he met P.O.S (rapper), P.O.S and Cecil Otter, (and later other Doomtree members). Following graduation, he studied at the University of Minnesota. Career Sims released the ''False Hopes Number Four'' EP, the fourth in a series of Doomtree's ''False Hopes'' releases, in 2003. Casio SK-1
The Casio SK-1 is a small sampling keyboard made by Casio in 1985. It has 32 small sized piano keys, four-note polyphony, with a sampling bit depth of 8 bit PCM and a sample rate of 9.38 kHz for 1.4 seconds, a built-in microphone and line level and microphone inputs for sampling, and an internal speaker and line out. It also features a small number of four-note polyphonic preset analog and digital instrument voices, and a simple additive voice. All voices may be shaped by 13 preset envelopes, portamento, and vibrato. It also includes a rudimentary sequence recorder, preset rhythms and chord accompaniment. The SK-1 was thus an unusually full-featured synth in the sub-US$100 (equivalent to $ today) home keyboard market of the time. Ipecac Neat
''Ipecac Neat'' is the first studio album by American rapper P.O.S. It was released on Doomtree Records in 2004. It was re-released on Rhymesayers Entertainment in 2005. Production P.O.S began his hip hop career as half of a rap duo called Cenospecies. After the duo broke up, they were still booked to play at several more shows. Because P.O.S was contractually obligated to perform at these shows, he had to write songs that he could perform solo. He told ''City Pages'' in 2014 that ''Ipecac Neat'' consisted of "pretty much every solo song" that he had written up to that point. Half of the album was recorded in P.O.S's own basement and the other half in a neighbor's living room, as opposed to a recording studio. Charles Andrew Bothwell (born December 13, 1981), better known by his stage name Astronautalis, is an American alternative hip hop artist currently based in Brooklyn, New York.
