Simplyhealth
Simplyhealth is a provider of health cash plans in the United Kingdom. The scheme is an amalgamation of a number of schemes, with the earliest dating from 1872. Members can claim back cash costs from various services from the NHS or private provision, such as dental care, optical care, prescriptions and physiotherapy, as well as having access to services such as remote telehealth consultations with a general practitioner. History Foundation to the early NHS The first element of what is now Simplyhealth was the separate formation of the Manchester & Salford Hospital Saturday Fund and the Leeds Hospital Fund, which were both constituted in 1872. Great Run
Great Run is a series of road running events around the United Kingdom, which includes the Great North Run. Great Run is a part of The Great Run Company, which was launched by retired athlete Brendan Foster. The group specialises in running, road running events, from a 5k up to a marathon. Bupa was title partner of the Great Run Series for 18 years, one of Britain’s longest ever sports sponsorship agreements, which ended in 2014. Morrisons took over sponsorship of this series of events in 2015. In 2017, Simplyhealth became title sponsor of the Great Run series of events and following the expiry of the sponsorship, ExpressTest by Cignpost sponsored the 2021 events, and AJ Bell took over in 2023 as part of a five-year deal. Great North Run
The Great North Run (branded the AJ Bell Great North Run for sponsorship purposes) is the largest half marathon in the world, taking place annually in North East England each September. Participants run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields. The run was devised by former Olympic Games, Olympic 10,000 m bronze medallist and BBC Sport commentator Brendan Foster. The first Great North Run was staged on 28 June 1981, when 12,000 runners participated. By 2011, the number of participants had risen to 54,000.
