Simony Hut
The Simony Hut (german: Simonyhütte) is an Alpine club hut belonging to the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) located at a height of 2,205 metres, just below the Hallstätter Glacier at the foot of the Hoher Dachstein in Austria. The hut, which is named after Friedrich Simony the first person to ascend Hoher Dachstein, is high above Hallstatt in Upper Austria in the northern part of the Dachstein Mountains. It is open year-round and, in winter, offers numerous options for ski tours and snowshoe walking. The Simony Hut is an important base for climbers because they are able to set out from here on long tours over the Dachsteins. There is also a mountaineering school where training courses are run for glacier or ice climbing. The Dachstein Chapel is nearby. Hoher Dachstein
Hoher Dachstein () is a strongly karstic mountain in central Austria and the second-highest mountain in the Northern Limestone Alps. It is situated at the border of Upper Austria and Styria, and is the highest point in each of those states. Parts of the massif also lie in the state of Salzburg, leading to the mountain being referred to as the ''Drei-Länder-Berg'' ("three-state mountain"). The Dachstein massif covers an area of around with dozens of peaks above 2,500 m, the highest of which are in the southern and southwestern areas. The main summit of the Hoher Dachstein is at an elevation of . Seen from the north, the Dachstein massif is dominated by glaciers with rocky summits rising beyond them. Fritzerkogel
The Fritzerkogel is a mountain in the Tennengebirge (Tennen Mountain Range) in the northern Limestone Alps, Austria. With its elevation of , is one of the higher peaks in the mountain range. Seen from the north it stands out as a relatively isolated, broad summit block, whose mighty rock faces and steep, rugged, rocky flanks (''Schrofen'') fall away on all sides. Its south cliff face is impressive and makes it a striking two-thousander. The Laufen Hut (german: Laufener Hütte) sits at an elevation of in the Tennengebirge (Tennen Mountains) at the foot of the Fritzerkogel mountain in the Austrian state of Salzburg. Gjaidstein
The Hoher Gjaidstein is a 2,794 m high mountain peak in the Dachstein Mountains in Upper Austria east and above the Hallstätter Glacier. It may be reached from the summit station of the Dachstein South Face Cable Car or from the Simony Hut each of which is an easy grade I climb. As well as the ''Hoher Gjaidstein'' (="Higher Gjaidstein") there is also the ''Niederen Gjaidstein'' ("Lower Gjaidstein", 2,482 m) and the ''Kleinen Gjaidstein'' ("Little Gjaidstein", 2,734 m). The mountain was climbed as early as 1823 by de Halley from the north from the Gjaid cirque (''Gjaidkar''). Whether the actual summit had been conquered earlier is not known. The International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation, commonly known by its French name Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA, lit.
