Simon Williams (cricketer)
Simon Lee Williams (born 3 September 1970) is a former English cricketer. Williams was a right-handed batsman who played primarily as a wicketkeeper. He was born in Lambeth, London. Career Williams made his Minor Counties Championship debut for Cambridgeshire against Bedfordshire in 1992. From 1992 to 1997, he represented the county in 16 Championship matches, the last of which came against Buckinghamshire. Williams made his MCCA Knockout Trophy debut for the county in 1993 against Suffolk. From 1993 to 1997, he represented the county in 14 Trophy matches, the last of which came against Dorset. It was for Cambridgeshire that he made his debut in List A cricket. He played 2 List A matches for the county, the first of which came against Derbyshire in the 1995 NatWest Trophy and the second of which came against Kent in the 1996 NatWest Trophy. Lambeth () is a district in South London, England, in the London Borough of Lambeth, historically in the County of Surrey. It is situated south of Charing Cross. Caught is a method of dismissing a batsman in cricket. A batsman is out caught if the batsman hits the ball, from a legitimate delivery, with the bat, and the ball is caught by the bowler or a fielder before it hits the ground. Batting Average (cricket)
In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). Hampshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class cricket, first-class county cricket, county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. The 1999 NatWest Trophy was the 19th NatWest Trophy. It was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 4 May and 29 August 1999. The tournament was won by Gloucestershire who defeated Somerset by 50 runs in the final at Lord's. Format For the 1999 season, radical changes were made to the structure and format of the competition.
