Simon McCaffery
Simon McCaffery (born 1963) is an American author of speculative fiction. Trained as a journalist and magazine editor, he was an Honorable Mention recipient in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest twice before he began publishing short fiction in a variety of professional science fiction, horror and mystery publications in the 1990s, including '' Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine'', ''Tomorrow SF'' (edited by Algis Budrys), and '' Space and Time''. He was a contributor in the anthology, ''Other Worlds Than These'', edited by John Joseph Adams, alongside authors Stephen King and Ian McDonald. His fiction has also been collected in anthologies including the "Book of the Dead" series edited by Splatterpunk authors John Mason Skipp and Craig Spector (''Still Dead'' and ''Mondo Zombie''), ''100 Wicked Little Witch Stories'', 'Mondo Zombie''", and ''The Haunted Hour''. American Literature
American literature is literature written or produced in the United States of America and in the colonies that preceded it. The American literary tradition thus is part of the broader tradition of English-language literature, but also includes literature of other traditions produced in the United States and in other immigrant languages. Furthermore, a rich tradition of oral storytelling exists amongst Native American tribes. The American Revolutionary Period (1775–1783) is notable for the political writings of Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Paine, and Thomas Jefferson. ''Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine'' (AHMM) is a bi-monthly digest size fiction magazine specializing in crime and detective fiction. ''AHMM'' is named for Alfred Hitchcock, the famed director of suspense films and television. History ''AHMM'' was founded in 1956 by HSD Publications, which licensed the use of the director's name. Though there was no formal connection with the television show, stories published in the magazine were sometimes adapted by the producers of ''Alfred Hitchcock Presents'' (and later, ''The Alfred Hitchcock Hour)''. A few writers, such as Henry Slesar, wrote for both. Other contributors during the magazine’s early years included Evan Hunter/Ed McBain, Ed Lacy, Bill Pronzini, Jim Thompson, Donald E. Algirdas Jonas "Algis" Budrys (January 9, 1931 – June 9, 2008) was a Lithuanian-American science fiction author, editor, and critic. He was also known under the pen names Frank Mason, Alger Rome (in collaboration with Jerome Bixby), John A. Sentry, William Scarff, and Paul Janvier. He is known for the influential 1960 novel '' Rogue Moon''. Biography Budrys was born in Königsberg (today's Kaliningrad) in the then East Prussia, Germany. His father Jonas Budrys was the consul general of Lithuania; as a child he saw Adolf Hitler in a parade in the city. In 1936, when Budrys was five years old, Jonas was appointed as the consul general in New York, instead of Paris as he had hoped. ''Space and Time'' is an American magazine featuring speculative fiction. Publication of ''Space and Time'' started by Gordon Linzner on June 3, 1966. It publishes strange and unusual fiction, poetry, and art. A new issue has been released four times a year since 2008. Gordon Linzner edited and published the magazine from its start in 1966 to 2007 when Hildy Silverman succeeded him in the post. Silverman published the magazine for the next 12 years before announcing its closure in late 2018.
