Simon Lorenzi
Simon Lorenzi (born 1 January 1997) is a Belgian professional rock climber specializing in sport climbing, bouldering and competition climbing. Lorenzi is one of the very few climbers to have repeated a bouldering route, and the third climber to solve ''Burden of Dreams'', the first-ever graded boulder route. Lorenzi also made the first ascent of ''Soudain Seul'', a V16/V17 boulder. Early life Lorenzi was born in Belgium and started climbing at age 2 with his father Claude Lorenzi, who was one of Belgium's leading rock climbers of the 1990s, and who created Belgium's first graded sport climbing route, ''La traction universelle'', in 1994. Competition Lead Climbing
A climbing competition (or comp) is usually held indoors on purpose built climbing walls. There are three main types of climbing competition: lead, speed, and bouldering. In lead climbing, the competitors start at the bottom of a route and must climb it within a certain time frame in a single attempt, making sure to clip the rope into pre-placed quickdraws along the route. Bouldering competitions consist of climbing short problems without rope, with the emphasis on number of problems completed and the attempts necessary to do so. Speed climbing can either be an individual or team event, with the person or team that can climb a standardized route the fastest winning. The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) organizes some of the most important international sport climbing competitions, including the Climbing World Championships and the Climbing World Cup. David Ethan Graham (born November 10, 1981) is an American professional rock climber. Professing to enjoy bouldering the most, he is one of the elite sport climbers and boulderers of his generation. Graham repeats classic routes or boulder problems as well as performing cutting-edge first ascents. Cresciano
Cresciano is a former municipality in the district of Riviera in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. On 2 April 2017 the former municipalities of Iragna, Lodrino and Osogna merged into the new municipality of Riviera. History Cresciano is first mentioned in 1269 as ''Crazano''. During construction of the Gotthard railway in the 19th century, traces of a Bronze Age settlement were found. An Imperial charter from 978 mentions a ''cortis Crissianicum'' owned by the monastery of San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro in Pavia. When first solved in October 2000 by Swiss bouldering pioneer Fred Nicole, it was graded at , making it the world's first-ever boulder route at that grade. Fionnay is a village in the Swiss Alps, located in the canton of Valais. The village is situated in the western part of the canton, in the valley of Bagnes, south-east of Martigny. Val Bavona
The Val Bavona is a ten-kilometer-long trough valley in the northwestern part of Ticino, Switzerland, in the Vallemaggia District. History, economy and culture First human settlements have appeared about 1000 A.D., with a constant number of people living in Val Bavona until about 1600. Repeated natural disasters caused by deforestation have then forced the population back to the lower villages of Cavergno and Bignasco, so that the numerous hamlets of Val Bavona were only used as summer abodes for farmers and livestock keepers. The prevalent economy of this valley was livestock (goats and cattle), as well as rye farming and logging. ''Alphane'' is a bouldering route in Chironico, Switzerland. It is graded at , making it one of the hardest boulders in the world. ''Alphane'' sits to the left of Dave Graham's ''Alphane Moon'' , and was discovered by Graham many years before its first ascent by American climber Shawn Raboutou on the 6th April, 2022.
