Simon Kennefick
Simon Kennefick (born 1999) is an Irish hurler who plays as a forward for club side Glen Rovers and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He is a grandson of Christy Ring. Career Glen Rovers Kennefick joined the Glen Rovers club at a young age and played in all levels at juvenile and underage levels. It was the club with whom his grandfather, Christy Ring, won a record 14 championship titles. Kennefick had his first championship success at minor level when Glen Rovers secured the 2017 Premier 1 Championship title after a 0-19 to 1-11 defeat of Midleton in the final. He was subsequently drafted onto the Glen Rovers senior team and made his championship debut on 28 April 2018 when he scored 1-03 in a first round defeat of Ballymartle. Kennefick lined out in three successive county finals over the following three seasons, experiencing defeats to Imokilly in 2019, Blackrock in 2020 and Midleton in 2021. Cork ( , from , meaning 'marsh') is the second largest city in Ireland and third largest city by population on the island of Ireland. 2018 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship
The 2018 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship was the 55th and last staging of the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1964. The championship began on 7 May 2018 and ended on 26 August 2018. Limerick were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Tipperary in the Munster semi-final. On 26 August 2018, Tipperary won the championship following a 3-13 to 1-16 defeat of Cork in the All-Ireland final. This was their 10th All-Ireland title overall and their first in eight championship seasons. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire, London and Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. The 2021 Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship was the second staging of the Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and the 133rd staging overall of a championship for the top-ranking hurling teams in Cork. The draw for the group stage placings took place on 29 April 2021. The championship began on 14 July 2021 and ended on 21 November 2021. Blackrock entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Midleton at the semi-final stage. Carrigtwohill were relegated from the championship after being beaten in a playoff by Charleville. The final was played on 21 November 2021 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, between Glen Rovers and Midleton, in what was their first meeting in a final in 30 years. The 2020 Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship was the inaugural staging of the Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and the 132nd staging overall of a championship for the top-ranking hurling teams in Cork. The draw for the group stage placings took place on 19 November 2019. The championship was scheduled to begin on 17 April 2020, however, it was postponed indefinitely due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games. The championship began on 31 July 2020 and ended on 4 October 2020. Imokilly were the defending champions, however, they failed to qualify for the knockout stage after being beaten by University College Cork in the divisional final. The 2019 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 131st staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the 2019 opening round fixtures took place on 15 January 2019. The championship began on 26 March 2019 and ended on 20 October 2019. The final was played at Páirc Uí Rinn in Cork, between defending champions Imokilly and Glen Rovers, in what was their first meeting in a final in 70 years. Original venue, Páirc Uí Chaoimh, was deemed unplayable due to an unsatisfactory playing surface.
