Simon Kachapin (born 1967 in Sigor, Kenya) is a Kenyan politician. He was the 1st governor of West Pokot County in Kenya. Kachapin is a member of the United Democratic Alliance. West Pokot County
West Pokot County is a county in Kenya. Its capital and largest town is Kapenguria, its area is approximately 9,169.4 square kilometers and it measures 132 kilometers from north to south. West Pokot County is bordered to the north by Turkana County, to the east by Baringo County, to the southeast by Elgeyo-Marakwet County, to the south by Trans Nzoia County and to the west by Uganda. According to the 2019 census, the county has a population of 621,241. John Krop Lonyang'apuo (born 10 December 1964) is a Kenyan politician. He was the former Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Industrialization (2008–2010), under the Leadership of President Mwai Kibaki. He is an active member and party leader of Kenya Union Party at the National Level. He served as the governor of West Pokot county from 2017 to 2022 after serving as the Senator from 2013 to 2017. United Democratic Alliance (Kenya)
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is the current ruling political party in Kenya. Their slogan is "Kazi ni Kazi" (literally: ''A job is a job''; All hustles matter) and their symbol is a wheelbarrow. The party, initially called the Party of Development and Reforms, officially changed its name to UDA in December 2020. The party became notable in January 2021, and is allied with William Ruto, the President of Kenya. It tends to be more popular among the Kalenjin people. The party fielded candidates in March 2021 by-elections. UDA nominated Ruto in the 2022 Kenyan general election, after he announced that he would leave the Jubilee Party in late 2021.
