Simon Hawking
Simon Hawking (born 5 March 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the Australian Football League (AFL). Hawking was a key position player and made seven appearances for Fitzroy in 1993, his first season. He played all 22 games the following year, as a defender. His efforts at fullback in Fitzroy's round 13 against Hawthorn at Waverley Park, where he kept Jason Dunstall goalless, earned him a 1994 AFL Rising Star nomination. He took 10 marks and had 20 disposals in the win. Hawking was third in the 'best and fairest' award for the '94 season. At the end of 1996, the Brisbane Lions were formed, and Hawking was one of the Fitzroy players selected to join the new club. He had been recommended to Brisbane by his former Fitzroy teammate Alastair Lynch and needed a knee reconstruction before arriving at Brisbane. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Fitzroy won a total of eight VFL premierships, of which seven (1898, 1899, 1904, 1905, 1913, 1916 and 1922) were won whilst they were nicknamed the Maroons and one (1944) as the Gorillas. The decision of the club to change its nickname to the Lions in 1957 coincided with what history now records as the beginning of decades of poor on-field performance and financial losses that eventually resulted in the club being placed into administration, ultimately leaving the AFL at the end of the 1996 season. Brent Green
Brent Green (29 March 1976 – 30 November 2009) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Bears, Brisbane Lions and Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). History Green was recruited to the Brisbane Bears from Southport in 1991, and made his senior debut in 1995 playing for them over two seasons, kicking no goals. In 1997, the Bears merged with the Fitzroy Lions to form the Brisbane Lions and Green was a member of the inaugural Lions squad, although he transferred to the Sydney Swans for the 1998 season after playing two games for the Lions. Simon Black (born 3 April 1979) is a former Australian rules football player and current assistant coach, who played his whole career with the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Black was a midfielder with a reputation for hard work and skill. He had the ability to get under the pack to retrieve the ball as well as deliver it with precision to teammates. He was drafted by the Brisbane Lions in 1997 from the East Fremantle Football Club, and he debuted in the first game of the 1998 season and quickly became one of Brisbane's best players. Alastair Graeme Lynch (born 19 June 1968) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is best known as a three-time premiership full-forward for the Brisbane Lions. The Tasmanian began his career in defence, where he became a club champion and leading goal-kicker for Fitzroy.
