Simon Beasley
Simon Francis Beasley (born 26 July 1956) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Swan Districts Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and for the Footscray Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A pale and slightly-built full forward, Beasley is the Western Bulldogs' leading career goalkicker and also holds the record for kicking the most goals in the VFL between the years 1980 to 1989. He is also one of two footballers (the other being George Moloney) to have kicked 100 or more goals in a season in both the WAFL and VFL/AFL competitions. Beasley worked as a stockbroker for various firms during and after his playing days. In 2002, he became a licensed bookmaker and started his own company, which ceased after he was banned in 2009 for improper conduct. Perth Football League
The Perth Football League is an Australian rules football competition based in Perth, Western Australia. It is the largest community Australian rules football competition in Western Australia. History The competition began in 1922 with five teams as the Mercantile Football Association (MFA). The MFA changed its name in 1924 to the Perth Districts Football Association and then, in 1929, to the Western Australian Amateur Football Association. It changed to Western Australian Amateur Football League (WAAFL) in 1971. In 2019, the league rebranded as the Perth Football League. University are the most successful club, with 20 A-grade premierships and 96 overall, as of the conclusion of the 2020 season. Andrew Purser
Andrew Douglas Purser (born 31 October 1958) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Footscray Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and for the East Fremantle Football Club and West Perth Football Club in the Western Australian Football League (WAFL). Career Purser began his football career in 1978 with East Fremantle Football Club in the Western Australian Football League (WAFL). He played 85 games for East Fremantle over five seasons, where he was a member of the 1979 premiership team and won the club's fairest and best award in 1981. Purser was drafted No. 1 by the Footscray Football Club in the 1982 VFL draft. He debuted for Footscray in 1983 and played 112 VFL games over five seasons. 1983 VFL Season
The 1983 VFL season was the 87th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest-level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 26 March until 24 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top five clubs. Before the season, the South Melbourne Football Club, which had played its home games in Sydney, New South Wales, in 1982, formally relocated its operations to Sydney and was renamed the Sydney Swans. The Hawthorn Football Club won the premiership for the fifth time after it defeated Essendon by 83 points in the 1983 VFL Grand Final. Night series defeated 14.16 (100) to 10.6 (66) in the final. Malcolm Blight
Malcolm Jack Blight AM (born 16 February 1950) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for and coached the North Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and Woodville Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). He also coached the Geelong Football Club, Adelaide Football Club and St Kilda Football Club. Blight is the only player to have kicked 100 goals in a season in both the VFL and the SANFL. Warren Ralph
Warren James Ralph (born 25 February 1959) is a former Australian rules footballer who played during the 1980s with great success as a full-forward for Claremont in the WAFL and with lesser success in the VFL and SANFL. Ralph began his career at Floreat Park in the WA Amateur Football League. He then played two seasons in the country with Dalwallinu before returning to Floreat, where he also had a considerable reputation in the local cricket competition as a fast bowler before dedicating himself solely to football in 1979. He debuted for Claremont's league team in 1980 and showed himself to be an extremely potent full-forward in dry conditions: against Perth and Subiaco he kicked totals of 11.6 (72). His performance for the Tigers in wet conditions, against South Fremantle and East Fremantle, suggested that Ralph had limitations.
