Simon Archer (badminton)
Simon David Archer Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, MBE (born 27 June 1973) is an English former badminton player. Archer once held the world record for the fastest smash at 162 mph. Career Summer Olympics Archer competed in badminton at the 1996 Summer Olympics in doubles, with Chris Hunt (badminton), Chris Hunt. They were knocked out in the quarterfinals. In badminton at the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2000 he coupled with Nathan Robertson, but they too lost in the quarterfinals, this time to Tony Gunawan and Candra Wijaya of Indonesia. However, Archer also competed in mixed doubles with Joanne Goode and won a bronze medal. Nathan James Robertson (born 30 May 1977) from Cotgrave in Nottinghamshire is a retired English badminton player who has achieved international success in both the men's events and the mixed doubles event. He was educated at Dayncourt School Specialist Sports College. Career 2004 Robertson best results include winning gold at the 2004 European Badminton Championships, 2004 European Championships in Geneva, and a silver medal at the Badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2004 Olympic Games, both partnering Gail Emms in the mixed doubles. Christopher John Hunt (born 1 December 1968) is a retired badminton player from England. Personal life Chris Hunt was born on 1 December 1968 in Bolton, England. He has one brother. In 2000 he met Liza Giambattista. In 2007 Hunt had a daughter called Gabriella Giambattista-Hunt. Then in 2018 Hunt and Giambattista got married after 18 years of being together. Career Hunt won the gold medal at the European Championships in the men's doubles with Simon Archer in 1994 and 1998. In 1996 they won the bronze medal. Hunt also won two commonwealth gold medals in the mixed team event and mixed doubles in Victoria 994 along with a silver medal in the men's doubles. In 1998 event at Kuala Lumpur, Hunt won the three bronzes in men's doubles, mixed doubles and men's team event.
