Silverthorn (album)
''Silverthorn'' is the tenth studio album by American power metal band Kamelot. The album was released on the Steamhammer label, a division of SPV, in October 2012 worldwide. It is the first album to feature Tommy Karevik as the lead singer and their third concept album, after '' Epica'' (2003) and ''The Black Halo'' (2005). The concept and story are original, and features a 19th-century little girl named Jolee, who dies in a tragic accident witnessed by her twin brothers. The story deals with how the girl's affluent family handles the tragic event, leading to cover-ups, secrets, and betrayal. The cover by Stefan Heilemann shows Jolee, the main character and angel of afterlife, as an adult. Music video A music video was released for the promotional single "Sacrimony (Angel of Afterlife)". Kamelot
Kamelot is an American power metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed by Thomas Youngblood in 1987. The Norwegian vocalist Roy Khan joined for the album '' Siége Perilous'', and shared songwriting credit with Youngblood until his departure in April 2011. On June 22, 2012, Youngblood announced on their website that their new vocalist would be the Swedish singer Tommy Karevik, who was first featured on Kamelot's album '' Silverthorn'' as the main vocalist, co-songwriter, and lyricist. , Kamelot has released thirteen studio albums, three live albums, two live DVDs and twenty music videos. ''Epica'' is the sixth studio album by American power metal band Kamelot, released on March 3, 2003, through Noise Records. It was the first concept album by Kamelot. This album, along with its sequel, ''The Black Halo'' (2005), is a rock opera inspired by the story of Goethe's Faust. ''Epica'' tells Part 1 while ''The Black Halo'' tells Part 2. (Goethe's Faust has two parts.) Most of the lyrics were written before the music was composed. The album inspired the naming of the band Epica after its release. Amanda Somerville (born March 7, 1979) is an American singer-songwriter and vocal coach who resides in Wolfsburg, Germany. She is known primarily for her work with many European symphonic metal bands. Biography Personal life Somerville was raised in Flushing, Michigan. Niclas Engelin
Niclas Engelin (born 27 December 1972) is a Swedish guitarist, who is currently playing with Engel, Drömriket, We Sell the Dead, and The Halo Effect. He previously was the lead guitarist for Gardenian and Passenger and the co-guitarist for In Flames and has been in and out of In Flames on six occasions. In 1997, Engelin replaced Glenn Ljungström of In Flames who had just quit. In 1998, Niclas quit In Flames and the band's drummer, Bjorn Gelotte, took over his position as guitarist. Engelin came back to fill in for Jesper Strömblad four times since back in 1998, when he quit. He rejoined In Flames briefly in late 2006 and again in 2009, as Jesper had been struggling with personal issues but maintained he would return. Apollo Papathanasio
Apostolos "Apollo" Papathanasiou (; born 15 March 1969) is a Swedish heavy metal vocalist of Greek descent, who is currently with the band Spiritual Beggars. He has also sung for Firewind, Meduza, Evil Masquerade, Gardenian, and Richard Andersson's projects Majestic and Time Requiem. In 2007, Papathanasio had to opt out of certain tour dates with Firewind. His position was temporarily filled by Henning Basse of Metalium. Apollo's last releases with Firewind was " Few Against Many" (2012). On 15 January 2013, Firewind announced that the band had parted ways with Apollo. Babis "Bob" Katsionis (; born February 17, 1977, in Athens, Greece) is a Greek guitarist and keyboardist and the lead guitarist and keyboard player for the heavy metal/power metal bands Stray Gods, Warrior Path, Outloud, and Serious Black; he was part of Firewind, before leaving in 2020 for personal reasons. Oliver Palotai
Oliver Palotai (born 17 March 1974) is a German musician, best known as a member of the power metal band Kamelot and of Doro Pesch's touring band. Career He made his name playing keyboards and guitar for Doro and keyboards for Circle II Circle (as a touring member between 2003 and 2004) before joining Blaze Bayley's BLAZE as a replacement for founding guitarist John Slater in 2004. In 2005 he joined the power metal band Kamelot as a touring keyboard player, and was soon welcomed as a permanent member. Palotai left BLAZE in January 2007. Thomas Youngblood (born May 29, 1974) is an American guitarist, songwriter, and founding member of power metal band Kamelot. Early life At the age of 12, after the death of his father, Youngblood moved from Virginia to Florida where he started learning to play guitar at age 15. Shortly after his move he began playing in his first band with school mates from the neighborhood. Through this he met drummer Richard Warner, and they decided to start a band together. Career Kamelot was founded in Tampa, Florida by Youngblood and Richard Warner in 1991. They signed their first contract in 1994 with German label Noise Records.
