Silverspring is a residential neighbourhood located in northeast Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is a suburban subdivision, composed mostly of low-density, single detached houses. As of 2007, the area is home to 4,936 residents. The neighbourhood is considered a high income area, with an average family income of $85,084, an average dwelling value of $322,670 and a home ownership rate of 97.8%. According to MLS data, the average sale price of a home as of 2013 was $407,171. History The majority of Silverspring was constructed during the late 1980s and through the 1990s, on land formerly administered by the University of Saskatchewan. The land for the Silverspring community was annexed between 1955, and 1959; however, the majority of residential building construction was done after 1991, and a small amount of construction was just one decade before this. University Heights Suburban Development Area (SDA) is an area in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Canada). It is a part of the east side community of Saskatoon. It lies (generally) south of the outskirts of the City and the Rural Municipality of Corman Park No. 344, east of the South Saskatchewan River, and Lawson SDA, north of the Lakewood SDA, and Nutana SDA. Future Centre This area at the beginning of the 21st century is one of the fastest growing neighbourhoods of Saskatoon. Centennial Collegiate
Centennial Collegiate is a secondary school located on Nelson Road in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. There are approximately 1,400 students enrolled at Centennial Collegiate as of 2022. Centennial also has a partnership with SaskTel Soccer Centre making it a shared-use facility. History Construction of Centennial Collegiate began on June 1, 2006, and officially opened in the fall of 2006, having a total of $18.4 million invested in the construction of the school by the Saskatchewan government and the Saskatoon school division. Centennial was constructed in order to recognize Saskatchewan becoming a province and the birth of Saskatoon. The school colors (Red, Black, and Gold), and the team-name (Chargers), were selected in 2005 by a committee of grade eight's from the Collegiate's feeder schools. Hal Laycoe
Harold Richardson Laycoe (June 23, 1922 — April 29, 1998) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman and coach. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, and Boston Bruins between 1945 and 1956. After his playing career he became a coach, working as both a coach and general manager in the Western Hockey League between 1956 and 1969. He coached the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL for the first part of the 1969–70 season, and in 1970 became the inaugural coach of the Vancouver Canucks, spending two seasons as coach and a final season as the general manager in 1973–74. Playing career Laycoe grew up in rural Sutherland, Saskatchewan. He played junior hockey in Saskatoon, but he saw his dreams of turning pro in the sport interrupted by World War II. Vera Pezer
Vera Rose Pezer (born 13 January 1939) is a Canadian athlete and administrator. Pezer was the Chancellor of the University of Saskatchewan from 2007 to 2013. A sports enthusiast, Pezer is a Canadian softball champion, golfing contender, and curling champion. She has been inducted into both the Saskatchewan Sports Halls of Fame and the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame. In 2019, Pezer was named the ninth greatest Canadian curler in history in a TSN poll of broadcasters, reporters and top curlers. Education Pezer attended school in Meskanaw.
