Silverchair
Silverchair was an Australian Rock music, rock band, which formed in 1992 as Innocent Criminals in Newcastle, New South Wales, with Daniel Johns on vocals and guitars, Ben Gillies on drums, and Chris Joannou on bass guitar. The group got their big break in mid-1994 when they won a national demo competition conducted by SBS (Australian TV channel), SBS TV show ''Nomad'' and ABC radio station Triple J. The band was signed by Murmur (record label), Murmur and were successful in Australia and internationally. Silverchair has sold over 10 million albums worldwide. Silverchair have won more ARIA Music Awards than any other artist in history, earning 21 wins from 49 nominations. They also received six APRA Awards (Australia), APRA Awards, with Johns winning three songwriting awards APRA Awards of 2008, in 2008. Diorama (Silverchair Album)
''Diorama'' is the fourth studio album by Australian alternative rock band Silverchair, released on 31 March 2002 by Atlantic/Eleven. It won the 2002 ARIA Music Award for Best Group and Best Rock Album. The album was co-produced by Daniel Johns and David Bottrill. While Bottrill had worked on albums for a variety of other bands, ''Diorama'' marked the first production credit for lead singer Johns. Johns wrote most of the album at the piano instead of his usual guitar, while the band took a 12-month break following their previous studio album, ''Neon Ballroom''. Silverchair worked with composer Van Dyke Parks on ''Diorama''; the album contains numerous orchestral arrangements and power ballads, a change from the grunge music typical of their earlier work, but consistent with the band's previous orchestrations on ''Neon Ballroom''. ''Neon Ballroom'' is the third studio album by Australian alternative rock band Silverchair, released in March 1999 by record labels Murmur and Epic. The songs " Anthem for the Year 2000", " Ana's Song (Open Fire)" and " Miss You Love" were released as singles and a short film was released for the song " Emotion Sickness". ''Neon Ballroom'' debuted at No. 1 on the Australian albums chart and peaked at No. 50 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 chart. ''Frogstomp'' is the debut studio album by Australian Rock music, rock band Silverchair. It was released on 27 March 1995, when the band members were only 15 years of age, by record label Murmur (record label), Murmur. The album features the band's most commercially successful single, "Tomorrow (Silverchair song), Tomorrow", which was first released on the band's extended play of the same name six months earlier on 16 September 1994. Daniel Paul Johns (born 22 April 1979) is an Australian musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the Lead vocalist, frontman, guitarist, and main songwriter of the Rock music, rock band Silverchair. Johns is also one half of The Dissociatives with Paul Mac and one half of Dreams with Luke Steele (musician), Luke Steele. On March 13, 2015 Johns released his first solo EP ''Aerial Love, Aerial Love'' and on March 22, 2015, he released his first solo LP ''Talk (Daniel Johns album), Talk''. ''Young Modern'' is the fifth and final studio album by Australian alternative rock band Silverchair, released in Australia on 31 March 2007 and in the United States on 24 July 2007 and co-produced by Daniel Johns and Nick Launay. The title comes from a nickname given to Daniel Johns by composer Van Dyke Parks. ''Freak Show'' is the second studio album by Australian rock band Silverchair. It was released on 4 February 1997 by record labels Murmur and Epic. It was nominated for the 1997 ARIA Music Award for Best Group, but lost to Savage Garden. Powderfinger were an Australian Rock music, rock band formed in Brisbane in 1989. From 1992 until their break-up in 2010, the line-up consisted of vocalist Bernard Fanning, guitarists Darren Middleton and Ian Haug, bass guitarist John Collins (Australian musician), John Collins and drummer Jon Coghill. The Dissociatives
The Dissociatives were an Australian alternative rock band consisting of Daniel Johns of Silverchair and dance producer and DJ Paul Mac (of Itch-E and Scratch-E), which formed in mid-2003. They were supported by touring members, Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes (both from the Presets), and James Haselwood. Their first single, " Somewhere Down the Barrel" (March 2004), peaked at No. 25 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Tambalane
Tambalane were an Australian pop rock band formed as a side-project late in 2003 by Ben Gillies ( Silverchair) on drums and backing vocals, and Wes Carr on lead vocals and lead guitar. During 2004 they were joined by Greg Royal on bass guitar and Gerard Masters on keyboards. In August 2005 they released their debut self-titled album which provided the singles, "Little Miss Liar" (June) and "Free" (August). Benjamin David Gillies (born 24 October 1979) is an Australian musician, best known as the drummer of Australian rock band Silverchair from 1992 until the band went on hiatus in 2011. In 2003, Gillies formed Tambalane with Wes Carr, initially as a songwriting project; they released a self-titled album in 2005 and toured Australia but subsequently folded. By June 2011, after Silverchair's disbandment, Gillies was in the final stages of about 12 months of working on his solo album, and he said that it was not a continuation of his earlier work with Tambalane. In 2012, he formed Bento, in which he performs lead vocals, and released the band's debut album ''Diamond Days''.
