Silverado, Calgary
Silverado is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located near the southern edge of the city, south of Stoney Trail, east of the equestrian sports facility Spruce Meadows, West of Sheriff King Street and North of 194 Avenue S.W. Silverado is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 13 councillor. Development controversy Prior to the commencement of development of Silverado, the owners of nearby Spruce Meadows pushed for a wetlands development to be established between the residential area and the show-jumping facility. Calgary City Council approved the wetlands proposal in 2004, along with a request that one of the major roads leading into Spruce Meadows not be upgraded to a residential collector street, although Spruce Meadows was unsuccessful in getting the city to increase the setback between Silverado and the facility. Chaparral is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located at the southern edge of the city, south of the Stoney Trail. To the east it is bordered by the Bow River Valley, to the south by 194 Avenue SE, and to the west by Macleod Trail. It has three sub sections that are not officially recognized, Lake Chaparral, Chaparral Valley, and Chaparral Ridge. Chaparral was established in 1995, and named for the mediterranean climate biome. Red Line (Calgary)
The Red Line, also known as Route 201, is a light rail transit (LRT) line in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Together with the Blue Line and future Green Line it makes up Calgary's CTrain network. Following its initial approval in 1976, the Red Line opened in 1981, running from Anderson station in the southeast into downtown. The Red Line has been expanded several times to reach its current state. The Red Line services the northwest quadrant and south end of the city beginning at Tuscany station, runs through the downtown core on 7th Avenue, then proceeds southbound where it terminates at Somerset–Bridlewood station.
