Silo (film)
''Silo'' is a 2019 American thriller drama film directed by Marshall Burnette and starring Jim Parrack, Jill Paice, Jack DiFalco, Jeremy Holm, Danny Ramirez and Chris Ellis. The film premiered at the 2019 Louisville's International Festival of Film. Plot summary In a small farming town, Cody, a local teen and aspiring musician, becomes trapped in a 50-foot grain silo. Volunteer Fire Chief Frank and the farms owner, Junior work to save him before he dies. Along the way they and the rest of the community must overcome their differences. Jim Parrack (born February 8, 1981) is an American actor best known for his role as List of True Blood characters#Hoyt Fortenberry, Hoyt Fortenberry in HBO series ''True Blood''. Chris Ellis (born 27 November 1949) is an American actor. Early life Ellis grew up in Frayser, Tennessee, a suburb of Memphis, in a middle class/working class area. He always wanted to be an actor because of what he saw on television. It took him seven years to finish college however, because "I have always been shiftless". During those years Chris became involved in community theatre in Memphis, Tennessee, where "I did and do still think the quality of the work has always been quite good". Grain entrapment, or grain engulfment, occurs when a person becomes submerged in grain and cannot get out without assistance. It most frequently occurs in grain bins and other storage facilities such as silos or grain elevators, or in grain transportation vehicles, but has also been known to occur around any large quantity of grain, even freestanding piles outdoors. Usually, unstable grain collapses suddenly, wholly or partially burying workers who may be within it. Entrapment occurs when victims are partially submerged but cannot remove themselves; engulfment occurs when they are completely buried within the grain. Engulfment has a very high fatality rate. While the death rate from workplace accidents on American farms has declined in the first decades of the 21st century, grain-entrapment deaths have not, reaching an all-time annual high of 31 deaths in 2010.
