Siglavy
Siglavy (1810, Syria - unknown) was a gray Arabian horse who became one of the foundation sires of the Lipizzan, and Shagya Arabian breeds. Denomination Siglavy derives his name from his Saklawi lineage, with early documentation of bloodlines referring to him as a Siglavie Ghadran. History Siglavy was born in 1810, with a gray coat. According to Donna Landry's academic study, he was purchased in Aleppo in 1814 by Prince Charles Philippe de Schwarzenberg, along with three other Arabian horses, as part of a military procurement mission entrusted by the Habsburgs to supply their stud farms. He was acquired for a substantial sum of 3,400 florins and was likely closely guarded on his journey to Vienna, the capital of the Austrian Empire. However, some popular sources claim that he was bought in France by the Prince of Schwarzenberg. Al Khamsa
"Al Khamsa" (الخمسة) is a designation applied to specific desert-bred bloodlines of the Arabian horse considered particularly "pure" by Arabian horse breeding, horse breeders, who sometimes also describe such lines by use of the Arabic word ''asil'', meaning "pure". It also refers to a mythical origin story of the breed. ''Al Khamsa'' roughly translates as 'The Five'. Lipizzan
The Lipizzan or Lipizzaner (, , , , , , ) is a European horse breed, breed of riding horse developed in the Habsburg Empire in the sixteenth century. It is of Baroque horse, Baroque type, and is powerful, slow to mature and long-lived; the coat is usually gray (horse), gray. The name of the breed derives from that of the village of Lipica, Sežana, Lipica (), which was part of the Habsburg empire at the time the breed was developed, now in Slovenia, one of the earliest stud farms established; the stud farm there is still active. The breed has been endangered numerous times by warfare sweeping Europe, including during the War of the First Coalition, World War I, and World War II. Shagya Arabian
The Shagya Arabian is a horse breed which was developed in the Austro-Hungarian Empire during the 19th century at the Bábolna, Mezőhegyes, Radautz, Piber, and Topolcianky stud farm, studs. Today it is most often seen in the Czech Republic, Austria, Romania, the former Yugoslavian countries, Poland, Germany, and Hungary, but has been exported to other nations and is bred around the world. A purebred Shagya Arabian today has bloodlines that can be traced in all lines to the stud books of :ro:Rădăuți, Rădăuți, Babolna, and Topolcianky. The breed is considered by some to be a subtype of Arabian horse, but due to the presence of a small amount of non-Arabian breeding others consider it to be an Anglo-Arabian or a part-Arabian, partbred Arabian.
