Siggie Nordstrom
Sigfred Ann "Siggie" Nordstrom (June 14, 1893 – December 24, 1980) was an American model, actress, entertainer, socialite and lead singer of Nordstrom Sisters, The Nordstrom Sisters. Born in Chicago in 1893 and nicknamed "Siggie", she was the elder daughter of Anna and Alexander Nordstrom. She started out as a hat model in Chicago. First coming to New York City to take a part in ''Very Good Eddie'' on Broadway, she retired from show business during her marriage. The Associated Press, AP picked up on a photograph of her on the ice of Lake Michigan, naming her 'Queen of the Polar Bears'. Her future husband saw the photograph and she always said, "That photograph 'got' my husband!" Perle Reid Mesta (born Pearl Skirvin; October 12, 1882March 16, 1975) was an American socialite, political hostess, and United States ambassador to Luxembourg (1949–53). Mesta was known for her lavish parties for Washington, D.C., society. Attendees included artists, entertainers and many national political figures. She was the inspiration for Irving Berlin's musical ''Call Me Madam'', which starred Ethel Merman as the character based on Mesta in both the Broadway play and the movie. Edwin Frank Duchin (April 1, 1909 – February 9, 1951), commonly known as Eddy Duchin or alternatively Eddie Duchin, was an American popular music pianist and bandleader during the 1930s and 1940s. Tavern on the Green is an American cuisine restaurant in Central Park in Manhattan, New York City, near the intersection of Central Park West and West 66th Street on the Upper West Side.
