Sidney Barron
Miles Coverdale Stocks Barron (1871 – 9 September 1924) was an English football administrator and manager. Personal life Miles Barron was born in 1871 in Waterhouses, a borough located to the west of the city of Durham. The exact date of birth is not known, but he was registered in the civil registry of Durham between July and September of that year. Barron, the eldest of four children, was born to John Barron (1840–1915), a colliery manager from Durham, and Grace Stocks (1841–1913). As a young man, Barron was an employee of Pease and Partners Ltd, the same company for which his father worked. Barron married Mary Ann Bird in 1893, and they initially settled in the town of Lynesack and later in St Helen Auckland, both near West Auckland. They had five children. Waterhouses, County Durham
Waterhouses is a village in Brandon and Byshottles civil parish, in County Durham, England. It is situated to the west of Durham, England, Durham, near Esh Winning, on the northern Bank of the River Deerness. History Joseph Pease, a Darlington Quaker, obtained permission in the mid-1850s to mine coal near High Waterhouse, which was a farm on the Brancepeth, County Durham, Brancepeth estate. The land was then owned by Gustavus Russell Hamilton-Russell and his wife Emma Maria, descendants of Viscount Boyne, Sir Frederick Hamilton of Dromahere. There were initial difficulties in the mining, but Pease sinkers eventually located coal, and the Deerness Valley Railway was laid from a junction at the North Eastern Railway at Relly, up the Deerness valley to the new coal pit. The company built housing for the new workers and a village grew up at the Mary Pit with residential areas south of the railway line. Joan Gamper
Hans Max Gamper-Haessig (; 22 November 1877 – 30 July 1930), commonly known as Joan Gamper (), was a Swiss-born football executive and versatile athlete. He founded football clubs in Switzerland and Spain, most notably Barcelona and Zürich. He is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the amateur beginnings of Barcelona, being the fundamental head behind the foundation of the club in 1899, and then serving as the club's first captain between 1899 and 1903, netting over 100 goals in just 48 matches for Barça and in 1902, he captained his side to a victory in the Copa Macaya, the club's first title. Billy Lambe
William Charles Lambe (2 January 1877 – 24 August 1951) was an English footballer who played as a midfielder. Before joining Barcelona in early 1912, Lambe had previously played for Swanscome Tigers, Hastings & St Leonards United, Woolwich Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion and Tunbridge Wells Rangers. At Barcelona, he became the first foreigner to be paid a wage at the club, due to his role as a player-coach. He made fourteen appearances for the club (with four of them in official matches), and also won the Copa del Rey and the Pyrenees Cup. Jack Greenwell
John Richard Greenwell (2 January 1884 – 20 November 1942) was an English football manager and former player. He is Barcelona's longest serving manager, having coached the club for ten consecutive seasons (initially as player-coach, then as manager), later returning to coach for two more seasons in the 1930s. In 1939, Greenwell became the only non-South American coach to date to win the South American Championship when he guided Peru to their first win. John Thomas Alderson (28 November 1891 – 17 February 1972) was an English professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper, making one appearance for the full England national team. Born in Crook, County Durham, Alderson played from a number of amateur sides, before moving to Middlesbrough. After failing to establish himself on Teesside, he was briefly the player-coach of Barcelona. He then joined Newcastle United, where his career was interrupted by the outbreak of World War I. Frank Albert Allack (25 September 1888 – 1967) was an English footballer who played as a forward for Spanish clubs RCD Espanyol and FC Barcelona. The highlight of his career was winning the treble with Barcelona in the 1912–13 season ( Catalan championship, Copa del Rey and Pyrenees Cup), netting a goal in the final of the 1913 Pyrenees Cup. Alex Steel
Alexander Steel (25 July 1886 – 1954) was a Scottish professional footballer who played for Newmilns, Ayr, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Kilmarnock, Southend United and Gillingham. In his spell at Barcelona he won two Pyrenees Cups in 1912 and 1913. Football career Steel began his career at local non-league club Newmilns before joining Ayr.
