Siddhartha (Nørgård)
''Siddhartha'' is an opera-ballet by Per Nørgård to a libretto by Ole Sarvig. Written 1974–79 it was premiered at the Royal Opera in Stockholm in 1983. Per Nørgård
Per Nørgård (; 13 July 1932 – 28 May 2025) was a Danish composer and music theorist. Though his style varied considerably throughout his career, his music often included repeatedly evolving melodies, in the vein of Jean Sibelius, and a perspicuous focus on lyricism. He based music on "infinity series" and other mathematical models. He composed large-scale works, eight symphonies including the choral Third, concertos and operas such as ''Gilgamesh''. His chamber music includes ten string quartets and music for guitar. Some later works were inspired by the art of Adolf Wölfli. The composer Julian Anderson called Nørgård's style "one of the most personal in contemporary music". Nørgård received several awards, including the 2016 Ernst von Siemens Music Prize. Ole Sarvig
Ole Sarvig () (27 November 1921 in Copenhagen – 4 December 1981 in Copenhagen) was a Danish author and poet, known for his participation in the literary journal ''heretica''. In 1967 he received the grand prize of the Danish Academy. In 2004 his 1943 work ''Regnmaaleren'' was included in the Danish Culture Canon The Danish Culture Canon () consists of 108 works of cultural excellence in eight categories: architecture, visual arts, design, design and crafts, film, literature, music, performing arts, and children's culture. Jan Latham-Koenig
Jan Betrand Latham-Koenig, (born December 1953) is a British conductor and sex offender. He conducted all of the BBC ensembles, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He was appointed an OBE for services to Russian-United Kingdom cultural relations and music in 2020. Latham-Koenig founded the Koenig Ensemble in 1976 and studied at the Royal College of Music. Latham-Koenig was arrested and charged with three child sex offences in January 2024 and pleaded guilty to two of them, eventually receiving a suspended prison sentence in May 2024. Early life and education Latham-Koenig was born in London in 1953 in a family of Mauritian, Danish and Polish origins. He attended Highgate School and then studied at the Royal College of Music in London.
