He married Ivy Kathleen Keene (1892-1973) on 2 May 1918. Their son ( also "Sid Smith") played for Geelong in 1952 and 1953. Barwon Football Club
Barwon Football Club was a 19th-century Australian rules football club based in South Geelong, Victoria, and for a brief period during the mid-1870s, was provincial Victoria's strongest football club. The club was established in 1874 in the growing industrial district of South Geelong, and it played the majority of its games on the Communn-na-Feine ground, which is now the site of the Communn-na-Feine pub from modern-day Kardinia Park. By 1875, the club had developed the on-field strength to compete with the city's hitherto pre-eminent club, the Geelong Football Club, and a strong rivalry between the two developed. Sid Smith (Australian Footballer)
Sid Smith (12 September 1928 – 12 May 1985) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Geelong in the Victorian Football League during the early 1950s. Nicknamed 'Boots', Smith arrived at Geelong from Horsham and played in a premiership as a reserve in his debut season. The following year he played in another Grand Final Primarily in Australian sports, a grand final is a game that decides a sports league's premiership (or championship) winning team, i.e. the conclusive game of a finals (or play-off) series. The Geelong & District Football Netball League (GDFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball league in Victoria (Australia), Victoria, being the oldest surviving competition in the region. It is one of three leagues in the Geelong area, the others being the Geelong Football League, Geelong FNL and the Bellarine Football League, Bellarine FNL. Geelong Western Cemetery is a cemetery located on Minerva Road, Herne Hill in the city of Geelong, Victoria in Australia. The first burial taking place on 12 January 1858.
