Sibu Indoor Stadium
Sibu Indoor Stadium is an indoor stadium located in Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia. The stadium is located on the Old Airport Road, Sibu. History The ground breaking of the stadium was held on 20 June 2014 by the Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh. The construction of the stadium was completed on 2 April 2016. The stadium had its soft-opening on 11 July 2016 and was officiated by the State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohd Morshidi Abdul Ghani. Facilities The stadium houses eight badminton courts, a basketball court, two volleyball courts, a two-lane jogging track and a grandstand with a seating capacity of 4,250 people. It is also equipped with 479 parking bays for cars, 89 for motorcycles and 16 for stage coaches. Sibu
Sibu (; Hokchew Romanized: ''Sĭ-bŭ'') is a landlocked city in the central region of Sarawak. It is the capital of Sibu District in Sibu Division, Sarawak, Malaysia. The city is located on the island of Borneo and covers an area of . It is located at the confluence of the Rajang and Igan Rivers, some 60 kilometres from the South China Sea and approximately north-east of the state capital Kuching. Sibu is mainly populated by people of Chinese descent, mainly from Fuzhou. Other ethnic groups such as Iban, Malay and Melanau are also present, but unlike other regions of Sarawak, they are not as significant. The cities population as of 2010 is 162,676. 2016 Sukma Games
The 2016 Sukma Games, officially known as the 18th Sukma Games was a Malaysian multi-sport event held in Sarawak. This was Sarawak's second time to host the Sukma Games, and its first time since Sukma Games#1990 Sukma Games, 1990. The games was held from 23 to 31 July 2016, although several events had commenced from 19 July 2016. Around 5670 athletes from 13 states, Federal Territory and Brunei participated at the games which featured 382 events in 24 sports. The games was opened by Abdul Taib Mahmud, the governor of Sarawak at the Sarawak Stadium. The final medal tally was led by Selangor, followed by host Sarawak and Terengganu. 6 national and 67 games records were broken during the games. Borneo Cultural Festival
Borneo Cultural Festival, abbreviated as BCF, is an annual festival of food, music, and dance that places a focus on cultural diversity of Borneo. The festival is held in Sibu, one of the major towns in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia, and was first organised in 2002. The festival regularly takes place in July, and is organised by the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC). History Since 2005, Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) is held by Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) in July every year at Sibu Town Square, for a period of 10 days. Sarawak Independence Day ( ms, Hari Kemerdekaan Sarawak) or Sarawak Day ( ms, Hari Sarawak) is the official independence day celebrated on 22 July annually by Sarawak, celebrating the establishment of ''de facto'' self-government and independence on 22 July 1963.
