Sibongile Besani
Sibongile Jeremia Besani is a South African politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa between May and July 2019. Besani is a member of the African National Congress. Political career Besani is a member of the African National Congress. He is a current member of the party's National Executive Committee. He is also a former secretary of the party's Free State branch. In May 2019, he was elected and sworn in as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa. On 1 July 2019, he became head of the party's presidency based at Luthuli House. Besani resigned from parliament with effect from 5 July 2019. Later that month, he was appointed coordinator of the national task team responsible for the African National Congress Youth League, after its leadership structure was dissolved. African National Congress
The African National Congress (ANC) is a social-democratic political party in South Africa. A liberation movement known for its opposition to apartheid, it has governed the country since 1994, when the first post-apartheid election installed Nelson Mandela as President of South Africa. Cyril Ramaphosa, the incumbent national President, has served as President of the ANC since 18 December 2017. Founded on 8 January 1912 in Bloemfontein as the South African Native National Congress (SANNC), the organisation was formed to agitate, by moderate methods, for the rights of black South Africans. The Free State, known as Orange Free State until the 28th of June 1995 when its name was changed, is a province of South Africa. Its capital is Bloemfontein, which is also South Africa's judicial capital. Its historical origins lie in the Boer republic called the Orange Free State and later Orange Free State Province. The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) is the youth wing of the African National Congress (ANC). As set out in its constitution, the ANC Youth League is led by a National Executive Committee (NEC) and a National Working Committee (NWC). Foundation The idea of the formation of the ANC youth league started in 1943, in Orlando, Soweto at Walter Sisulu's house by Anton Lembede, A.P. Mda, Jordan Ngubane, Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo. Its founders felt that ANC was dominated by conservative and older generation who cannot relate to the youth.
