Sibelius (film)
''Sibelius'' is a 2003 in film, 2003 Finland, Finnish film biography of Jean Sibelius directed and written by Timo Koivusalo. It is the first full-length feature film about the famous composer. Filming began in July 2002. The film was released on 12 September 2003, but before that it was shown for the first time at the Sibelius Festival in Lahti on 4 September 2003. When it was released widely, it was the second most watched domestic film of 2003. Plot While Johan Julius Christian ("Jean") Sibelius is still a child, his father Christian dies; the family is facing a financial disaster and must sell their property. Young Sibelius finds a new father figure in Uncle Pehr. At the beginning of his musical studies with Martin Wegelius, Sibelius adopts the name of his uncle Jean. Plagued with insecurity, he continues to study law and, on the advice of his professor, returns to the music that is close to his heart while not interested in the law. Martti Suosalo
(born 19 July 1962) is a Finnish actor and singer. Suosalo was born in Oulu, and began his career in 1986 with an appearance in a TV series. He began to work as a regular actor on Finnish television but also appeared in several films in the early 1990s such as the 1994 film '' Aapo'' alongside actors such as Taisto Reimaluoto, Ulla Koivuranta and Kai Lehtinen. Suosalo was admitted to the Helsinki Theatre Academy on his third attempt in 1983. At that time, from 1982 to 1985, Jouko Turkka was the rector of the Theatre Academy. Suosalo has estimated that he would never have been able to study at the school without Turkka. Suosalo graduated from the Theatre Academy in 1987. Vesa Tapio Vierikko (born 24 May 1956 in Lappeenranta, Finland) is a Finnish actor. Vierikko began acting in 1978 on television working consistently throughout the 1980s and 1990s. He starred in the 2003 film ''Sibelius'' working with Finnish director Timo Koivusalo and actors such as Martti Suosalo, Heikki Nousiainen and Seela Sella and Miina Turunen. Adolf Georg Wiedersheim-Paul (6 January 1863 – 30 September 1943) was a Swedish novelist and playwright. He lived most of his adult life in Berlin, Germany, where he was a friend of Swedish writer August Strindberg, Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, Norwegian painter Edvard Munch and Finnish artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela. Edvard Armas Järnefelt (14 August 1869 – 23 June 1958), was a Finnish and Swedish conductor and composer, who achieved some minor success with his orchestral works (1904) and ''Praeludium'' (1900).
